we can already see the PANIC ATTACK of Qtel from the day VODAFONE got the licence to operate in Qatar

.

No doubt, Qtel customer service especially 111 sucks alot. You have to wait for more than 10-15 minutes to get connected and u will mostly get wrong numbers from QTEL 180 as they dont' understand ENGLISH properly.

.

I'm quite sure the day when VODAFONE will be 100% operational, Qtel will be on its toes which i think they already are.

This is funny (the Title for the Press release):

Vodafone Qatar Celebrates Successes- Bye Bye Qtel, Hello Vodafone

Doha, 21 May, 2009: In a fun filled event held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Vodafone Qatar today celebrated their successful journey so far.

In unique Vodafone style, the event started with CEO Grahame Maher, HR Director Jan Mottram and Consumer Business Director Daniel Horan entering on camels to the cheers of Vodafone staff.

Grahame thanked all Vodafone's 250 staff members, their families and business partners for their support and hard work in continuing to build the organisation. "Vodafone is live and we have started to welcome all our customers thanks to you. We have and will continue to ‘make a world of difference for the people in Qatar' with our world-class customer services and products," said Grahame

Customer Care and Retail Champions then proudly received their graduation certificates from Daniel and Jan after 5 months of intensive training. A multicultural team from Qatar, Sri Lanka, India, Philippines, Egypt, Somalia, Lebanon, Sudan, Jordan and Oman, the Champions training included how to handle customer calls, network and data knowledge, payment processing, complaints handling, and system training.

The event culminated in Vodafone's staff letting off balloons that read "Bye Bye Qtel, Hello Vodafone" rejoicing in being FREE of the Qtel service and enjoying the "Big world of Vodafone" services.

Vodafone will be making many exciting announcements in the near future about when the next group of "1st Customers" will be able to join Vodafone ......so stay tuned!
