Would you consider telepathy a hidden mental power or maybe just a coincidence? Have you ever experienced it?

Do we all agree it exists?

regarding having my brother write something about his best friend, how would he know the name? We only went to the show at the last minute and my brother was with us the whole time.

Anyway, I don't know how he did it; I'm just the reporter :-)

Sorry PM i still believe its a trick of mentalism, thats why i asked u if you remember the entire conversation specificly, as in what was the general topic of discussion. A skilled mentalist can submit hints here and there or more like brain association to make you think of something, like if i'm talking about loved ones in general, you'd automatically think about a dead relative or a pet coz subconsciously its there and mentalists know how to tap into that.

I get your point, read this article, it may be of interest to you.

"January 28th, 2008 Scientists are reporting evidence that intact, double-stranded DNA has the “amazing” ability to recognize similarities in other DNA strands from a distance. And then like friends with similar interests, the bits of genetic material hangout or congregate together. The recognition — of similar sequences in DNA’s chemical subunits — occurs in a way once regarded as impossible, the researchers suggest in a study scheduled for the Jan. 31 issue of ACS’ Journal of Physical Chemistry B. Thats not the point FS we are talking about Telepathy in general doesnt matter with loved ones or anyone. When it comes to loved ones who have a close connection like a mother knows when her child is hungry or sad or whatever that is like intuition.

Victory yes you can develop your brain to do this if we knew how we'd have done it by now. :) perhaps you need to read more into telepathy before actually wanting to discuss about it. :)

I cannot argue with you on this point, the mind's territory is so intricate though, not for anyone to enter, I can fool many by convincing them or acting alright, when I'm actually not. Rofling Victory thats one way to put it "wi-fi brain connection" with loved ones.

But your wrong, it IS brain power and it takes skill. Black magic on the other hand is a type of brain power where one skilled "magician" can make you believe what you want to believe.

I am back after a nice relaxing weekend and thought i'd drop in my 50 cents on this topic again. I see a lot has been posted but yet again all in vain to make Happy Happy understand the difference between TELEPATHY and Intuition. You cannot have a debate with a person who argues apples and oranges are the same in their opinion.

Moving on to PM's story. Kreskin is a mentalist. Look up the term mentalist. Now i will explain what a mentalist is and Happy Happy dont argue a mentalist is a telepathic.

A mentalist is a person who can influence your thoughts through words, sounds, actions, etc. In pm's brother's case the trick was over before your brother could even write down anything on the piece of paper. I wonder if PM even remembers what Kreskin said while he was talking to her brother.

To give you example lets say I want you to think of a Triangle. I will tell you to think of a Square, inside the square draw a circle, inside the circle draw any shape u like. Now a average person can only think of ONE shape to draw inside a circle, a triangle. You will not think of a square coz you already drew a square to begin with. Thus you will draw a triangle and viola I already know the answer, thus giving the illusion of mind reading.

And there was no way he could have seen it. My brother was more than 50 meters away and wrote something down covering it with his hand. We were all around him so no one else could even have seen. Then he folded it and put it in his pocket. Kreskin went on doing some other things and after about 20 minutes called my brother to stand up and told him what he had written. When my brother opened the paper, it was exactly what Kreskin had said.

It was pretty cool. :-)

Try this small experiment (Not black magic but scientific): Requires five people (adults). One should be sitting on a chair comfortably (back straight) in the center while the four should be standing on 4 corners. The room should be quite and no giggling. Calm your minds. Thereafter, one person should keep his/her left hand palm facing downwards just above the head of the one sitting.(It should not touch the head but just 3-4 inches above). This should be followed by a quick succession of all the others keeping their left palm over the hand of the one before them - hands should touch and energy focussed. After this pile the right palm in the same fashion. Than take the hands away rhytmically one by one and not in a hurry. Immediately after that touch the four corners of the chair with index finger trying to lift it. After sometime (almost 11-12 times of repeating the same)the telepathic energy gets foccused and you can lift a person along with the chair with just 4 index fingers. This is not black magic but the collective mental energy of 4 people.

If I understood you correctly, what you just described is a person who is "playing smart" or masters trickery, and this has nothing to do with telepathy.

Well, I've also heard about criminals having an intuition about their next crime scene, they claim they were inspired, so did say some school shooters! And those who connect with the dead, some actually do.

I felt the need to mention that, to stress the difference between trickery, mental disorders, and the sound-brained.

I couldn't care less if it's called telepathy or anything else, but I'm glad you believe in it. However, this connection is not only always happening between two or more individuals involved in the same matter, it also happens between strangers, or let's say between less-bonded people too.

It happened very often in my life that someone close to me said: "Why are you saying what I was just thinking?" So, there seem to be some connections between close people. But I would rather call it coincidence. Or maybe brothers or sisters of soul. If analyzed, it comes out that both were engaged in the same matter and therefore it is probable that they think the same at the same time.

huh? i dont see how you can disagree with me. Your definition on telepathy itself is wrong in my opinion. Telepathy refers to the transfer of mental information, such as thoughts, ideas or emotions between individuals by means other than the five classical senses (taken from wikipedia :P)

Also intuition isnt a spiritual feeling either. There is another term for this so called spiritual feeling that your referring to and that is "Conscience" your inner voice telling you what is morally wrong from what is right. Intuition on the other hand can be explained by the ability to sense with the mind. Ability to sense danger, to sense someone likes u etc. Thats just what i think :)

I believe in intuition. The telepathy videos are simply tricks. But intuition is very different. Whether you call it your inner spirit, clairvoyance, discernment, feeling, gut reaction, hunch, inspiration, instinct, perception, premonition, innate knowledge, intuitiveness, perceptivity. Do you think it is the level of concentration and focus? Does it have something to do with the clearness of conscience that allows one to focus? Or simply practicing over and over again?

In a program codenamed "Silent Talk" , Darpa, part of the Pentagon is researching the possibility of soldier to soldier mental communication on the battlefield.

As seen in the videos earlier, speech can be codified as specific neural signals in the mind. Darpa is looking at means to detect these “pre-speech” signals and to transmit them to the desired interlocutor.

Oh Mr. smoke, we have to agree to disagree. I think the best answer I find convincing here is Scarlett's. I don't believe telepathy has anything to do with sending my thoughts to another, it's sensing each other thoughts.

About the difference between intuition and telepathy, I like your explanation much, but I'm considering them both as spiritual thoughts or feelings, not a guess work, nor anything you could explain or even confirm.

As for the mind game experiment, there is a cards trick with the same theme, but I can try it out from 1-10, as my tutor just instructed ..:))

Finally, I have a premonition, which is a kind of a bad intuition that you're now cursing the day you responded to this thread, how about this telepath here, am I qualified?

WHAT!! There is a BIG difference between Intuition and Telepathy. Intuition is not guess work and u get lucky, if you hold a piece of paper in one hand and ask someone to chose which hand has the piece of paper 10 out of 10 times he's only doing guess work. Intuition is more like that gutt feeling u get about something.

Women's intuition i'm sure u must have heard of that term. Just like humans have the 5 senses of touch, smell, sight, sound, and taste which are our basic tools used to identify the things around us, sometimes u hear about having a 6th sense. Your 6th sense is nothing but your brain telling you without any reasoning that you can or cannot do something. I'll tell u about a very nice experiment u can do if you've not already come to do it unintentionally before. You need 2 people for this.

You sit in a quiet room no disturbance and your back towards the door, tell your partner to approach you from behind silently at no particular time interval, just when every she/he wants to come up to you from behind and tap you on the shoulder. Even thou your back is turned u cannot see or hear your partner approach you will get this tingly feeling inside you that something is about to happen.

Telepathy on the other hand is more direct its not a gutt feeling, its a process where you know exactly what someone is thinking, or you can send your thoughts out to another person. Experiment you can do is tell a friend to write down a number between 1 and 10 (lets keep the nos small first dont jump to any no. between 1 and 100000000000000000) then tell your friend to try and project that number to you and you try to read your friend's mind on what no. they wrote down see how well u do. :)

I believe telepathy or "will transference" does exist. So called stage magicians tend to give it a slightly bad name and religious leaders treat it as a taboo subject..

Psychologists have been studying the phenomina for years, even Fraud and Jung mention it in their writings..

I am all for further research and "harnessing" or "utilizing" the full potential of our brain, but I worry very much about the governments and their experiments in this direction.

The brain is like a muscle that has to be developed slowly. Happy, the mind has many tricks up its sleeves and this fact can be seen in different people, not everyone taps into the brain powers 100% some are better at maths, some are better at constructing or designing buildings, but these are just the powers that we take for granted coz its very common to see around us.

How would u even come across terms like telepathy or telekinesis, these words itself were invented to describe a perhaps proven ability of the mind so that means it must have occurred in some one at some time but remains a mystery to us coz you and i have not come across such things in daily life.

honestly I believe that each and every one of us has it to some degree, but since humans only use such a small portion of their brainpower, most will never learn HOW to tap into that ability. Those that exhibit such an ability over and beyond what "normal" people can do are the ones who have managed in some way, to tap into that source.

If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you; that is the main difference between a dog and man.

Yes, I too believe telepathy exists. David Copperfield is using optical and technical tricks to hide a plan, nothing to do with mind power at all..:)

do you mean move a plane with the mind or pull it with some part of the body? What are u referring to? Chewing glass, passing high voltage electricity through the body, poisonous snakes biting on a man's tongue and nothing happens to him etc isnt a mind matter rather more of a body matter.

Happy Happy by you staring at the chair for 5 hours in one day its not going to move. Thats like saying you stared at someone's brain for 5 hours you can now preform brain surgery :p Everything needs to be practiced and trained. You could start off with small object, look up some videos on youtube you'll find plenty but know how to distinguish the real from fake. People CAN move objects with their mind.

Telepathy is not the same as Telekinesis.

Thought identification technology is still in its infancy and very fallible. Its strange that scientists have been experimenting on thought transference and mind control for so many years, but still haven't progressed too far.

It shows how complicated the human brain is.

Before I use your link, I'd like to let you know there are so many attempts are currently underway to read a person’s mind and map their thoughts to their behavior.

How about the liar detector, something we probably wouldn’t have thought it would exist, right?

Gotta see this! This video segment was televised on "60 Minutes" documentary 28 June 2009. Two medical researchers at Carnegie Melon University show how Functional MRI - can identify your thoughts. -- It is now possible - on a very basic scale - to read a person's mind. Lesley Stahl reports...

Don't get me wrong, I'm a firm believer in the power of mind, in fact I use it often to my benefit, it does miracles, only if you believe you can do it.

On the other hand, I know it's not magic, it's more to do with your ability to focus all your energy to achieve something.

During the time I was abused, probed and prodded, we actually communicated using telepathy, since M'aaaaaaaajKii females did not have any vocal chords..

hello happy!

when I was a kid, a classmate told me that if you want to catch the attention of the boy you are crushing on, don't go in front of him. Sit behind him and stare at his nape. STARE and he will sense that someone is looking at him. I did it and he turned his head. he caught me looking and asked if I need anything. I quietly said, "I'm just thinking of something." =)

I think we all have this "power of the mind." A magnet we all have.. we need to use it efficiently. =) (e.g. convincing people..it's like HYPNOSIS)

I've always been fascinated with the powers of the mind. The mind can do many things, sure we are told that, but then why isnt it so common? Why havent we learnt to develop beyond that 30% or even use 50% of our brain power. How do we know that we humans are just capable of what we can do now and nothing more than that? If Einstein used just 3% more brain than the average man he was considered a genius.

My theory is that as we grow we DO start to use up 100% of our brains but then everyone's brain is different just like every person is different. Some are bright some are not. Everyone at one time or another has experienced deja vu. How does a person in this present day and time see exactly what can happen in the future, does it mean that that particular event has already passed?

We have heard about telekinesis, which a person can move objects with his mind. We have heard about hypnosis where one person can suggest others to do things they wont remember. But in all these cases its just a few bunch of them and not EVERYONE. Imagine if we all could move things with our mind like it was a every day job. We take our hands for granted now but as we developed over the years we developed our skills with using our hands, painting, building, surgery etc. So does that mean we still havent developed our full potential of brain power or is it that we are only capable of so much.

Back to your point about telepathy, yes i believe when two or more people are so close to each other they can communicate with each other on certain brainwaves. Like when two people are in love they say you just have to look into their eyes and you know what they are thinking. Many times it could have happend with a close friend when u just look at them and they understand what you mean. Telepathy does exist just like any other ability, we all just havent learnt to develop it completely.

Good Fortune always comes knocking at your door...when you are sh*tting in the toilet!! :)

I've felt it in many situations; most often it does occur, innately, in times of crisis and/or accidents, where a loved one is exposed to some sort of risk. One feels the looming danger from a distance. You may or may not recognize who it is happening to or when it has happened exactly.

I think a lot has to do with sorroundings and society and how we "attune" to them.

Look at the Aborigines in Australia. in their society , telepathy is accepted as a norm and a faculty.

We on the other hand as "intelligent" human tend to poo poo such notions..

Mrs Expat seems to have telepathic powers.. She seems to know exactly when I've screwed up..

As research as shown , we humans only use 30% or so of our brain capacity. So, I'm sure that as and if we evolve to using the brain more, our telepathic powers will come to the fore.
