Dear all,
I have to start sight seeing in Qatar & around. Being a pro photographer, I want to shoot Qatar in my DSLR. Is it permission needed to use my photogear in public places? If so, where & how it's to be done? Can anyone help me? Thanks.
it depends to place you have to shoot and please dont take a picture the arab womens who wears the Black dress... im also a amateur photographer enthuassiast... i'd a lot of pictures here in Qatar... hehehe
Like what our friends told you , depend on the place , the people , the location , you can take picture but be careful with those things , because its very sensetive here.
NEVER as in NEVER try shooting anywhere near the US Bases/Embassy. I had a friend who absentmindedly got excited over sunset and started taking pictures... There, in less than 5 minutes, unknowingly the police were after them. Luckily for them, after 2 hours of interoggation, they were set free.
to make it simple....YES. the law is quite permissive when it comes to taking pictures. The only places (as far as I know) where you are not allowed to shoot are shopping malls (if stipulated at the entrance) and photographing people without asking permission. The second instance applies especially to LOCALS (women) and I strongly advise you to refrain or to ask permission, if you find someone less conservative. Also I am not sure if cameras are allowed in the mosques. Hope this helps! Happy shooting :D!

As above plus it seems you now need a permit to shoot around Aspire!
It is not permitted to photograph sensitive areas, military/police installations, the exterior area around the airport etc.
