we're having the same problem..I checked out Salam Studio & Stores it's also QR 3,450 for the Canon 450D. We hope Lulu would drop a bit (sale) next month during Eid Mubarak. Will inform if there are good deals available.

Its a good deal coz i have a plus item like 70-300mm f4.5 sigma lens worth 1100qr and bg-e5 camera grip worth 950qr.
The canon 450D includes all in the box package
bag, 4gb memory card, camera strap, the standard lens kit, and also my trusty tripod.

Recently I purchased one (Canon Rebel XLI - The American version of EOS450D -100% same in all respec) but yet to start using it. Got a very good feedback from reliable users. However for purchase webdeal will be better. I took it from Amzon.com for 680$(QAR 2500). In Dubai its price is approx AED 3100.

If you are a beginner...go for it and if 500D costs just an affordable money get 500D as it comes with full High definition video. Ultimately when you are sick of it, at least you can still use it for some decent videos. But if you can buy it outside the country do it.
Good pictures depends on how well you know your camera. Get a all round lens as starters if you can afford it. Typically, you should be stuck with this camera setup for at least one to two years before considering upgrading or changing to other brands. This applies similiarly to you getting Nikon or Sony or any makes.

its a very good camera considering its price and features. Plus the DIGIC 3 processor under its hood is better when capturing low-light long-exposure shots and is way better than D90 in capturing low light detail and produce much low level of noise in long exposures. I am a professional who have used Nikon for about 8 years but I love the simplicity and technological edge canon has in some important areas of imaging technology. Go for it you wont be disappointed.
