Can you help me please with my CV?
By ohanian.carlo •
I'm a new graduate in mechanical engineering...I'm preparing a new CV for applying to jobs in Qatar...I have relevant part-time experience of 7 years and more..I began studying engineering in 2002 and graduated now (took me 7 years to finish it)...my question is...do I have to mention in my CV that my experience is partial..I don't want people think that I'm faking or something...do I have to include that or it's better to talk about it at the interview? what's the custom in the job market?...cuz sometimes I worked more than 10 hours each day on deadlines...any help would be appreciated...thx for ur time.
Good advise on line, I would like to add simple rules to this.
1. Always start with the latest job experience and work back (it is very frustrating to know what some one did in their first job 30 years ago when all we need to know is the last 10 years).
2. Dont just write where you worked, but also what you did.
3. Do NOT make up things. If these get caught, no interviewer will go any further.
if your being paid for those years then i think you can include it then, if not put it in "trainings".
Thanks people for all the suggestions...I just wanted to make a point.
I graduated in mechanical engineering this year...but while I was studying - and it took me seven years to do so - I worked 7 years in RELEVANT jobs (4 of which I was working as a sales engineer for a major French company in Syria which I'm still working for)...why I can't include my experience under the heading "professional experience"?..I have a certification from the company in France..isn't that a good advantage?...other two years of my career I was working as a technician for a Japanese Imaging company..the other two I was a plant manager...what I'm trying to tell that I wasn't working in jobs completely irrelevant with my academic background and the jobs that I would apply to..I'm completely positive about being honest in my CV...I didn't post a question about honesty...I'm worried about adding the word part-time would downplay my professional background...that's the gist of my question. I can explain that in the interview or the phone interview. I'm not try to be deceptive here...I just don't want my CV to be neglected because of the word part-time. THX
As people have said, be honest in your CV, also in your interview. As for level of experience required.... that depends on what the employer is looking for and who else applies. Also depends on how they see you fitting into the team.
Good luck, if you don't get in this time do as Baldrick 2 Dogs said, get some more experience.
Never give up, I am sure it will work out in the end.
Good luck :)
I think u can add ur experience in CV but not as PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION , mention under Skills OR Achievement Section.
hope it works.

I just noticed you are in Syria!
You will probably find it difficult to impossible to get a job in Qatar as a fresh graduate from another country, regardless of 7 years part time experience.
I'd honestly suggest you get 5 years under your belt at home first.
No you dont have to mention it in your CV just speak about it better ...i did like this ...
Good Luck
ALWAYS be honest on your CV. As an engineer, if you design or sign off on something and you are found out to have lied, the consequences can be severe (eg. corporate manslaughter)
Managers like honesty. I have recruited newbies based on minimal experience but with a good CV.
Also mention any extra curricular activities you do. What managers DO want to see is "Helping the elderly", "Debate club", "Cleaning dishes in a restaurant", "Copier room assisitant" etc. This shows commitment to work.
What they DON'T want to see though is "Playing PS Games", "Watching TV", etc. This shows you are a lazy slob!
At least you have the balls to ask - Good Luck
No doubt, include it because it is a part of your work experience. It could help HR people to see how you fare over a job. Plus, intelligent HR people have a way to catch fake job experiences listed on applicants' CV, and i don't think you will not have any problem defending about that post in your CV if asked during your interview.
Hi,
I suggest that you be honest in your CV and place all your work experience while you are studying then detail your skills.
Good Luck.
