how will i know?

Hi there, could somebody please informed me how am i supposed to know if my PC reached in maximum capacity data allowed in hard drive. I am not quite sure on this, what are the things I need to limit myself to in order not to eat a lot of space in my computer. my laptops sometimes hangs up, just bought it 5 months ago.Pls. help... Thanks!

My friend 5 month that mean still under warranty , better to take back from where you purchased.
