PC Geeks/Gamers: AMD Phenom X4 vs Core 2 Quad
Hey there guys. Just wanted the Gamers or PC Geeks opinions on the AMD Phenom X4 and the Intel Core 2 Quad. Both have 4 processors, but just wondering which one is better since gamers recommend AMD, but most people recommend Intel.
Assuming that the AMD costs cheaper, perhaps a QR150 would do, and the default clocks are at, say 2.66GHz each, which one would be better for gaming usage?
And please tell me 'Why?' and any prices of both of them would be highly appreciated. Thanks.
LOL !!!
AMD = bang for the buck.
Intel = expensive and the fastest processor to date. Maybe you guys haven't heard of Intel i7 huh? not to mention Intel i9 is just around the corner which is probably coming out 1st qtr. 2010.
So, please do not say Intel is slower.
AMD + cheaper and faster
Intel - more expensive and slower

Don't buy Intel. Especially not in Ramadan.
But if you really don't care about where your money goes, here's the benchmarks relevant to gaming from the most respected source among hobby builders, overclockers and the general hardware public
3DMark Vantage 1.0.2
Left 4 Dead 1.0.0.5
GTA IV 1.0.3
Far Cry 2 1.0.1
If you are buying new PC for games, then I would prefer not to do so. Buy a gaming console. Because the biggest hurdle in PCs is that you need to upgrade your hardware after every 6 months to play games at high resolution and smooth frame rate.
I would prefer AMD. Majority prefer Intel just because of the trend. You must compare processors by comparing the benchmark results. So and google it for benchmarks. You will find many websites showing results.
By the way where did you find AMD processors. Actually I searched a lot but I find no dealer in Qatar :(
