What is the best secondary school in Doha for Muslim expats from Britain?
My husband wants to move out to Doha next year. Our boys are currently in grammar school and have access to hifz and arabic classes in Britain. My husband is convinced they'll get an even better level of academic and religious education out in Doha, with all the benefits of living in an Islamic country. I'd love to hear from any parents who have made similar choices and how they have found the transition to Doha.At the moment the boys have a strong Islamic community around them, is there something similar in Doha that we can be a part of?
I had worked for a school called I qra`a I found it nice for someone is looking for a good I slamic schools.
Jazakkallah all for taking the time to answer my query:) Sis Akila, my youngest goes to a private Islamic school too and it's cos we love the school so much that I'm a little nervous about making the change! I've always wanted to move to an Islamic country to contribute, but I'm just nervous about losing the strong social network of people with similar outlooks. It's reassuring to know there's some sort of community for the boys to be part of:)Most of the people who have moved out there tend to have kids in primary, people tend to move back for secondary and tertiary education, is that true?Would love to know, jzk.
Assalamu alaikum. We too moved out from the UK, we have 3 young children. Personally I feel there are good British schools out there however they do not generally offer Arabic or Islamic studies and the majority of the students would not be Muslim. The Islamic side of the education is therefore more of an after school thing. There are many places offering hifz and arabic classes. Also there is at least one saturday school which does classes on Islamic studies along with sports for the boys. I have personally found the childrens academic education to be one of the biggest compromises as they were at a very good private Islamic school in the UK.
Regarding community, there is but not in the same sense as in the UK, you don't find an "area" where the Muslims tend to live however people get together through classes and of course there are mosques everywhere. Hearing the adhan all the time and the buzz during ramadhan and eid are great.
doha college ,ikhra ,newton are good schools but still u have to keep on checking they are he best schools of doha for britishers but as a indians we think there is no educational standards there cos we have very high educational standards in indian schools so what u think is better u do so hope for the best and take care as salamu alaikum

avoid putting your childrens in western or lebanese schools for school education try to find some good indian schools (DPS,BPS) where the education is good and also there r no restriction in dress code u can follow islamic dress but if u put in western school u have to follow western dress.
and where as for hifz of quran yes u will find many madrassas where u can enroll u r childrens here there r good sheikhs here.
life is good in qatar u can follow religion and also there is option for u to follow shytan(mardood) rules r flexible for non believers
best of luck
