The 18-year-old South African champion, Caster Semenya, who won gold in world 800m race has been asked to take a gender test. Semenya won gold in impressive fashion in a time of one minute, 55.45 seconds. This makes IAAF suspicious and they are testing to see whether Semenya has a rare genetic disorder that means she has female genitalia but male chromosomes. If it is proved that she is not a female, she will be withdrawn and the medals revised.
Smilar as was the case with Indian runner Santhi Soundarajan, who lost her 800m silver medal after failing a gender test at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha.
Does this mean intersex should not contest in a common sports event?

Have seen a tranversite lifting a gas cylinder one-go during the day, and goes soft as cotton at night.
What a shame. Bad enough having to grow up with the stigma of being a hermaphrodite, but when you finally find something you excel in, you're banned from it.

seems someone was a poor loser, and chose to embarrass her in the most humiliating way. This should never have been made public!
Could you imagine having to undergo all the highly invasive tests with the results being made public??
It is taking away from what an accomplishment she have made, because she will always be remembered as the athlete who had to prove she was a women.

However, in this case I feel truly sorry for her. If a test was to be carried out , it should have been done privately and quietly.

Brit you are correct ,this is purely on envy act.The autorities to have check the athalets before entering the game itself.Once they win,after that propagenda about their genetics,foolishness.Respect skills.i hope she passes the test,but who will think about the poor heart how much disturbed.and who will bear the mental agoney of her.Any compensation for that.feel mercy about that poor soul,who gave a fame for her country by winning, and got a shame for her own.Ridiculous.
