Its placed in such a way that a driver cannot see them...only can be seen in the rear mirror...duh

I wonder if its operational...cause till yesterday I was speeding...:(

There are speed radars installed just yesterday on Mannai underpass (close to British Embassy). Speed limit for driving at the Gulf (Khaleej) street - 60 km/h. Take care!

I drive below the speed limits, because it defines the maximum speed allowed, not the minimum speed. And I save my brake pads for emergencies. But obviously it requires some intelligence.

Nobody in Doha drives bellow the speed limit. These radars are useless they are not of any help in making motorists drive within the spped limit.

People who get flashed by these radars are the ones who cant take their foot off their accelator or step on the brake at the right time.

great idea!!

its the old "catch Land Cruisers by the gazillion" trick!

By anonymous• 8 Sep 2009 15:18

No, it's about the idiots who know the traffic rules, and permanently break them, and when they know that there is a camera, the push their brakes and go slower than the allowed speed, thus causing a traffic holdup for those who maintain the allowed speed. It's for those who have no character, who think they are better, and who are the real problem in this country.

SA do 'smile zone'(as in smile for the camera) updates during the day.... letting people know where the cameras are is not doing anything illegal... anycase, most people would start seeing them anyway, so whats the difference?

deni11 ...I do that underpass at 100 everyday :(

That was the only stretch inside Doha where one could do 100+.....damn the city is getting slower.

The speed on that route could have been upgraded from 80 to 100. Its a safe stretch.

By j3375• 8 Sep 2009 01:37

md..sometimes anybody can make a mistake n go over 80(the underpass mentioned here is good for a 100 max limit)..so its good this info is put up..its true that speed kills, but more often than not,its the guy who speeds thats killed..at least here in qatar..

@deni thanks 4 posting..

they need to have radars everywhere,,,, that makes it easier to drive,, than keeping eyes on the look out for parked cars (to be looked with suspicion at any parked cars), funny looking posts on the roads.

I agree, you have to obey the speed limit, camera or not. Knowing where the cameras are is a good reminder. My husband and I have to laugh - there's a new radar on a stretch of road where the limit is 100 kph. Everyone sees the radar and slams on their brakes even though they are usually doing 80. Either they don't know what the speed limit is, or they don't know how fast they are going. Pretty clueless ...

Mandilur, the law says you have to obey the speed limit, if there is a camera or not! The guys on QL tell the other guys where and when they should obey the law (cameras) and where they can break the law (no camera)!

By Mandilulur• 7 Sep 2009 23:56
Mandilulur

I disagree, MD, they are helping people obey the law, not break the law.

They're also being installed in the underpass under Mannai roundabout in the Khaleej Road and the speed limit is 60kph there from Rumailah hospital to the Jaidah roundabout.

Actually threads like this one should be removed by the mods because they encourage illegal behaviour. Threads which praise pirated software are handled the same. Mods, you've gotta be consistent!

drive responsibly WITH OR WITHOUT A RADAR... jeez..

By anonymous• 7 Sep 2009 18:59

heero, they are sick! Instead of following the traffic rules they find out the spots where they can break the rules without legal consequences!

You make it think that driving is about preventing violations.

Just DRIVE PROPERLY AND SAFELY and not even radar or cameras will even wanna look out for you.
