Licquor License, exit Visa & IMPT Questions

Hello:

I have been extended an offer in Doha. Just have some questions. Would greatly appreciate any info on the following:

1. How long does it typically take for the goverment to issue an exit visa? Do companies often deny employees of the support to obtain an exit visa?

2. Am i able to get a liquour license if i have a Jordanian passport?

3. Do restaurants, shops, etc shut down during prayer time?

4. I had read somewhere that there are seperate check-out, shops, etc for men and women? is that true? if so, does it apply everywhere? are restaurants segregated?

Thanks in advance!

When you go to QDC and fill out the form, where it says "Religion" It's probably best if you lie - I know muslims who put muslim and were denied!!!

I think it's at the discretion of the guy who processes the form though!?!?!

movingtomideast, sorry mate,i stand corrected,i'm not muslim so i figured the rule applied to all muslims but as has been correctly pointed out above, only Qataris are not eligible for a liquor lisence(although i know loads of Qataris who drink but that's a different story.)so you should have no problem getting one...good luck...

and clubs... as amnesia has said, most of the control on liquor licences and even entry into clubs/bars is restricted only to Qataris....

Other than having to show your Qatari ID at the door-of which they will take a copy, going to places with alcohol here, is no problem.

"if you don't like the heat... get out of the kitchen... but stop trying to fan the flames before you leave... it will burn you on the a** as you go through the doorway...." ME

thanks for all the responses! good to hear its not segregated but it does suck about tle liquor license bc i am muslm (i guess i will have a non-muslim friend do the purchasing)

If i visit a bar/club, can bartenders serve muslims?

@baldrick and ricky, Muslims can get an alcohol license too. Only Qataris can't no matter what the religion.

1) If your company is registered for the online service with the immigration dept.,as long as it takes to login, select your name & click on print...The 2nd part is completely upto the company you're working for & obviously varies greatly,an option is to get an annual multiple exit if you travel often or even if not but find out if you have to shell out for it or your company will.

2) Liquor lisence is available to all non-muslims irrespective of nationality,if you are muslim & fancy a tipple, make friends with your non-muslim permit holding colleagues,i'm sure you'll find someone who'd do you the favour & buy it for you...

3) That's in Saudi mate, thankfully they have a little more common sense here...

4)see baldrick's & ricky's answer...
