Family needs short-term assistance / zakat

Some of you may recall a post about two days ago from a family with seven children asking for food/assistance. Many people were quite suspicious (which is reasonable considering the possibility of fraud) while others were quite condescending (which was not so nice in the Month of Mercy).

An update: I have met this family and their case seems quite genuine. They are happy to accept any kind of assistance including groceries.

I am reprinting her previously published e-mail address if anyone is interesting in helping them out: umieshah /at/ yahoo.com.

I would still like to know how it is possible for an expat family to be living here legally in Qatar without someone having a job and sponsoring the other family members. If this can be explained, I'm on board.

Yeah i have heard its one of the richest counrties in the world but that doesnt mean the PEOPLE IN IT are as well!!

The whole rich thing comes from Qatars income from oil... they geat LOADS from it.... i mean there are even qataris that are poor.... so no it has NOTHING to do with the people.

As for no Qataris.... i know some dont have jobs for a while... or find it a bit difficult to get started... but Alhumdulillah Allah provides....

I know of a whole village that are in need.... they appreciate ANYTHING.. from food to old sheets to houshold items.. kitchenware etc... It does exist here in Qatar.

And sister... May Allah reward you for trying to help this family Ameen.

MG you are not asking that seriously, you know they don't mean what they say , for almost everything! Why don't they enforce the traffic laws, or the non smoking law or any other law for that matter ...

No Job means staying illegally. Why support illegally staying people? The government of the richest (Islamic) country has to handle this if they mean what they say. Or, are they hippocrits?

MG , it's like that , NO job = no money = no food ! that simple ,has nothing to do with Qatar being rich or not ! Same like in other Countries, there are poor ppl and not so poor ppl and rich ppl , right!

I hear it many times: Qatar is the richest country in the world. So, how can there be people without food? Impossible!! If it is possible, Qatar is one of the poorest countries in the world!
