and for driving schools , there is one in Dubai Autodrome , One in Bahrain Grand Prix circuit . and the there is one in thailand in Pattaya , an international circuit called Bira Circuit .
Most of the cars (And the front runners most of the time) are sports sedans ''As in Mitsubishi evo's and Subaru Impreza's'' . From Evo6 uo to 10 . There is a variety of other cars though , There is Porsches, one Cadillac , one nissan skyline A couple of Corvetts and a couple of Hondas. U can start from a budget of something lets say like 40,000 Riyals for a civic and sky's the limit !!!.
Sponsorships though are a pain. you have to build a relationship and it all depends on how good u are in negotiating to get more sponsors. Qatar Shell sponsors me and took me quiet sometime to convince them. The QMMF partially sponsors nearly all of us , not only Qataris but there is a british guy called Tim stevens who drives a fairly old Porsche ( Even though his car is old but still he scares the hell out of us !! ), I guess he got sponsored this year by the QMMF.
And the prices really to drive in Losail is fairly cheap since driving in the UK in a track like silverstone costed me around 700 Pounds !!!
What kind of cars compete in the NRRC? What kind of budgets are you looking at to run in it and how easy is it to find sponsorhip? I just deduced my statement from a glance at the rulebook, so I really do not know. Cool there's a karting academy for the young 'uns, I think a lot of people would do well to take advantage of it. Naturally, I'd kill to drive Losail. I've spent lotsa time going around it on Konami's MotoGP game haha, I guess I know the circuit pretty well :P
And the prices are really good, I mean 350 for a trackday on a FIA/FIM sanctioned track that hosts WSBK and MotoGP year in year out, that's killer! I always said people should take more advantage of it, "boring Doha"... you don't get the chance to do this in most places buddy ;)
I got a new goal in sight now, to drive on all these awesome circuits in the Gulf before I croak :D
Did you seriously have 'tards coming in with dunebashers? I'd suppose they would, silly folks :D
There is a championship being held in losail circuit called the National Road Racing Championship as well as the national sprints championship which is held in losail's circuit parking lot.
U can take part in the sprint with any saloon car or sports car '' please dont show up in your four wheel drive, loool '' its alot of fun. As crapcircle mentioned there are trackdays where any one with any car '' again dont show up in your fourwheel drive '' can take part as long as ur car passes the scrutineering . Drive on the track for fun you dont have to race, people aborad would die for driving on an international track.
No driving schools in Losail for the moment but there is a karting academy for kids.
P.S : The Track is not closed most of the year , plus the days the tack is booked for the hampionship and the track days last year we held the GP2 Asia , speedcar series and there was a support race for the National RoadRacing drivers . Moto GP , Super bike and rest of the year its hired to Yamaha , Honda , Michellin , Porsche for their tests . In a matter of days Nissan is going to lauch their new Maxima there.
About the road racing championship. Its not the one with the biggest budget , not the guy with the fastest car, not the one with the best crew , not the most experienced or the one with the hottest pit girl that wins . The person who is most prepared is the one who does.
There's some kind of national car championship here but all the races are at Losail :( Bummer driving 6 or 7 races in a year on the same stretch of tarmack. And no limitations on the cars entered=moneyman would eat ya for breakfast.
Ah I'd guess they did, they're more market savvy. Thanks for the tip, I might be going to Bahrain soon for a while. I was at the opening race at the Dubai track, ETCC/FIA Endurance GT. Was mighty fun I must say :)
I remember back then there being an ad for some kind of Gulf Formula Three... you pay 100,000AED, they provide you with car & crew for 6 races, Dubai, Sakhir and somewhere else, might've been Losail. Dunno what came of that, I guess nothing.
Crapcircle: "Ahh the Gulf, got everything but nothing to do with it! ..... I doubt they have any driving schools. It would be cool if they did, but if you contact them do let us know please!"
Pay a visit to Bahrain or Dubai ... Both have driving courses :o)
next day is 26th September. 300 for bikes, 350 for cars. The club cards are yearly passes. I intend to get one next year if I get a bike cause my car isn't fit for those kinda sheananigans.
Check their website as they have regular "trackdays". Trackdays are basically times when the circuit is open to the general public to drive on, at a price naturally. I too wish they had some kind of driving courses... or perhaps some kind of cups around here, I mean we have 4 world class venues within driving reach but if you watch the regional car channels, it's all about these silly showoff street events... not really drift or proper racing, pretty primitive in my opinion, especially considering the world class circuits that spend most of the year vacant. Ahh the Gulf, got everything but nothing to do with it!
I'd definitely spend half my pay to take part in some kind of basic racing like they have in the UK and mainland Europe, the hundreds of one make cups and series :(
I doubt they have any driving schools. It would be cool if they did, but if you contact them do let us know please!

regardless when I saw you made a comment here I thought you would have asked if even yer pink Kia is welcome for a lap around Losail :P
I have been to the Bahrain F1 races a couple of times. Great track, reasonable facilities, NO AMBIENCE, NO REAL EXCITEMENT, NO PASSION.
Had similar experience when going to watch footy matches in Saudi..
Why ? IMHO because sport is not part of the culture here. People go to these events but don't get really involved ...
