good morning all,
Just wondering if someone can help me with the following:
Is it possible for a person to sponsor anyone else other than immediate family?
Someone has asked me if I would be willing to sponsor a nanny as they are new to qatar and desperately need their nanny to look after their 2 young children.
Can I, as a sponsored person myself, actually sponsor someone else?

giving visa is a big responsibiltiy. if the nanny will not be working with you, don't give your sponsorship to someone else. it is a big risk esp. if something happens with the nanny ( ex. if abused, have illicit relationship, run away or complains at the labor)
you are lucky to be able to sponsor, keep it to yourself. you might need a nanny in the future but lost your chance to sponsor one.
As a non Qatari you can't sponsor anyone except immediate family and a maid if you have a pre-approval.
To get that approval, you must apply at the immigration for it. set conditions include but not limited to:
1- you must have a family (wife at least) with you in Qatar and under your sponsorship
2- level of income is no less than 12'000Qr (not sure about this one)
3- if the wife works, then it helps towards the approval.
the approval will take at least 1 week and up to 3 weeks.
You will be held liable for huge financial charge (up to 50'000QR) and possible criminal charge as well if your made was found to be working for someone else other than her sponsor. Note that this only happens if someone files charges or the maid gets in trouble and an investigation happens. It is very unlikely that you will get in trouble for other than the top two reasons.

I think "Nanny visa" can be applied under our sponsorship, the approval as usual is based on criterias.
However, bringing a nanny for others under your sponsorship is not advisable for many reasons.
