can a US xbox get xbox live?

i have a white american xbox, i live in doha and i have
Qtel, if my sister who's in america get's me a xbox live
card and i connect a ethernet cable to my xbox, is it
possible for me to get xbox live?
(let me break it down)
1.connect ethernet cord to xbox from router
2.get xbox live card
3.get xboxlive.
is this possible (can i get xbox live if i follow these procedures?)

hay i also have US xbox i go online safe no problem but before connecting to electric power just get a power converter then then on ur xbox no problems i buy cars from local store,s from where u buy consols realated things i hope i helped if u need more help pm me i will replay :)
