Many people have been sharing their thoughts on the Pearl and ZigZag. I dont think any one place is going to appeal to 100% everyone but I looked at ZigZag and as long as you get seaside any of the 2 towers it was pretty nice. The pools are quite large, fitness facility will be relatively large as well, people density will be low, the shopping mall and atrium look to be excellent. Shops all indoors unlike the Pearl which is appreciated 6 months of the year. No balconies for those who like that though. That didnt bother me, outdoor piazza is enough. And you just purchase how big you want by the square meter. . Best is maintenance fees thus far have been mentioned to be quite reasonable, and more certain than the Pearl. That alone is a huge concern that beats the calamity with surcharges and developer fees going on at the Pearl. That circus is still playing out with uncertainty there. I was not concerned as much about price of the property as with developer connection and maintenance fees. These fees at the Pearl just have the appearance of being totally out of control right now. How can you feel good about purchasing there when you dont have confidence about exposure to extortionate fees. ZigZag everything(even the aircon) is upfront, certain and all-inclusive which is the way it should be. No surprises there in my experience.

I just got a place in Zig Zag and will be moving in the beginning of next month. You can get a 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom for 9,000 Qr (unfurnished) however they're quite small (perfect for a bachelor though). and we are getting the 167 square foot for 10500. The apartments are gorgeous, the view can't be beat, the only issue I have is that the facilities won't be done for another couple months, however I'm assuming they are worth the wait. Best thing for me, we're in walking distance of our favourite bar, Admirals. :D

Hey mate. I am an aussie also and am going to look at 2 bedroom flats at the ZigZag towers tomorrow as my lease is up in a few weeks. Will let you know what they are like once I have seen them. I heard you can get 2 bed flats there for QR 10k but will check it out tomorrow. For a social scene join up down the rugby club whe you get here. Cheapest beer in town and if you want to play even better. The coach AP works at Aspire. Either that or there is also an aussie rules team here that plays around the gulf. Joining one of these teams is the best way to get involved.

We are moving to a compound right by Aspire, AlFardan 5. Not there yet myself, but they are big and the management is decent apparently. They aren't apartments, but they do have a nice little community all built in, and the one we are moving to is fully furnished. Not sure how that works, our company is taking care of getting us in there.

Zig Zag towers are way away from Aspire zone, and u might be stuck in traffic (though just for a short time). As i recollect, the rents were starting at 12500. Not sure if it has dropped or its still the same. Again, zig zag is stand alone tower, with a desert / sea view. Though few clubs are closeby but the nearest mall is city center (15 min drive). Good location to stay will be near Villagio mall. Lots of compounds out there and i heard that the rents have come down between 12-15k / month.
