How can a School suddenly cancel their winter vacation ? So many parents must have planned their vacation during winter ? what will happen to their plans ? No other Indian School has done so, why only DMIS ? Is it allowed by Ministry of Education in Qatar ?

Hi All,

Did any of you recieve response from the Principal???

Do you think we all can collectively push the Principal to revoke this insensitive decision which none of the other Indian schools have taken.

I strongly disagree with reducing the winter holidays. This time Qatar experience the very hot summer days, ministry announced to close the schools , still only the DMIS school were very pushing the children to suffer up to July end with after noon activities. Now by cutting the winter holydays, they messed up the winter vacation planning and also pushing the children to suffer in winter climate. Looks like they are running a day care centre rather than school. Really no idea what they want to show....?

H1N1 was unexpected and there are chances that the school might be closed for another few days/weeks in case of an unexpected event of the number of children affected with H1N1 reaching above 1% of the total number of students......so this is a gud move from the school to ensure they complete the portions on time......

Jsomanathan,

There should be a planning for everything, Financial Planning, Study Plan, Teaching Plan etc. If we don’t have a proper plan it is a big disaster. Schools should be role model to students with respect to planning. Increasing the school days does not mean that your kid will gain more knowledge, it is a clear indication that school does not have proper plan.

I want to very strongly object to the same issue of cutting down the winter vacation by 3 weeks. In all fairness the school should have reduced it by 1 week which has been lost during summer Holidays. Why the school needs to reduce it by 3 weeks? I am going to send the link of this forum to DMIS principal. My I request more people to participate in the forum so that we can all put up our strong objection and unacceptance of the Holiday schedule.

Han

U R right. DMIS is the only school which was open till July end. All other school were closed, Now only DMIS is the only school which has cancelled the winter vacation. May be this is the time to think seriously and say bye bye to DMIS.

i dont think anyone from the school will respond here.

i have asked the school to clarify on this issue.

its ridiculous.

they lost 4 days of school and have delayed the vacation by 2 full weeks.i am assuming one week for eid.

moreover dmis did not close early, unlike some other indian schools.

Thanks for this posting.

I'm one of the affected parent , I was unable to take my summer holidays and had planned to utilse the winter vacation. Their announcement on the Portal came as a surprise to me and has affected my planning.

Hoping some responses to this post will help us challenge this decision.
