DOHA: The Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) is introducing a new appointment system in the Women’s Hospital Out-Patient Department which is expected to reduce the wait time to see a doctor.
This new system will go into effect on November 1. All patients with upcoming appointments will receive a telephone call to explain how the new system works.
Wait times for patients are being reduced through three significant improvements to the existing system. First, patients will be able to see the doctor by making an appointment for a time dedicated exclusively for them.
Patients will also be able to use a new, streamlined check-in process in the hospital. Thirdly, a more spacious and comfortable waiting area will be set up in the hospital, which will be under construction very soon.
“These are important changes we’re making to the Women’s Hospital and our patients need to be informed about how this new system will work. We will be calling patients with appointments booked from November onwards to further explain the timing and benefits of these new changes. ”
Under this new system, the scheduled appointment time and duration of that visit will be determined by the patient’s need. Patients will be seen only according to their scheduled appointment time and preferential treatment will not be given to any patient.
Drop-in patients to the Out-Patient Department will not be seen, but will have a future appointment scheduled for them. Patients, with or without an appointment, who come to the Out-Patient Department with symptoms that require emergency attention will be seen in the Emergency Room.
When attending an appointment, patients are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment time. To prevent overcrowding, patients may be accompanied by one other female adult, and should make their appointment at a time when children are in the care of others.
To protect appointment times, patients who are more than 20 minutes late will have their appointment rescheduled for another day. When making an appointment, patients are asked to do so by phone, there is no longer a need to visit the hospital in person.
Partnering with Women’s Hospital staff and leaders, CHI is the department within Hamad Medical Corporation which has been mandated to design and implement operating systems throughout the HMC organization.
For more information can be had on Tel No. 4393900 between 9am and 12noon everyday.
wdh nd wht if we r unable to attend the appointment wht should be done plz answer soon!!!
Yeah right I doubt this system will work, the outpatient dept, I spent over 3 hours waiting to see a dr. and it was not the one I asked for he was on leave. Their was only 5 patients in front of me but a 3 hour wait then you get a prescription for medicines they don't even have, the bathrooms were filthy, toilets would not flush. I could go on and on and on and on how dismal the hospital is.
This is great for all. HMC is really the best! ;)

Hamad Hospital may be well equiped and all. It like throwing more and more money into a fireplace. Emergency patients wait an average of 48 hours at the bay before getting admission. Doctors toss around files. No follow up, no accountability etc. Patient meals are often forgotten. Security guards (himaya) are stationed to annoy rather than help. I am confident that most of them may falter to answer basic questions in english even if held at gunpoint. HMC may be decorated with equipments and all. To me its nothing but gaudy tinsel.

To make your appointment, call 439-8000 between Sunday-Thursday 9 a.m. until noon.
for english, you have to wait for many decades more.
hope they will have (also) good English (phone!!) speakers/receptionists:-)
Well there evening timings are not sufficient as compare to the avg.number of female visitors.
.
Also they issue only 25 or 30 token numbers after that they will LOUDLY ANNOUNCE that they don't have any token number now. Please come tomorrow.
.
Professionally, it shouldn't be like that. If there duty is from 04:00pm - 06:00pm then they must atleast issue token numbers till 05:30pm then they can announce (or) they must add 1 or 2 more doctors to attend female patients.
by calling them instead of having to drive all the way in, find parking, and ferret out the right desk and person to simply MAKE an appointment.
I'll try to rein in my sarcasm and simply say I hope they can actually implement these improvements...but based on past experience here, I won't hold my breath.
