Vodafone 'English' call centre a joke
By corpsebride •
I recently purchased a Vodafone sim card thinking that the service offered would be better than Q-tel seeing as Vodafone is an internationally recognised brand. How wrong I could have been. After 3 failed attempts at calling their call centre (and selecting the English option) I was highly frustrated. The people on the other end can barely speak English!! Being South African I am used to not speaking to people who are fluent in English so that doesn't bother me, but the people were so incompetent I could barely understand them.
Advice to people wanting to buy a Vodafone simcard. Don't bother. It isn't worth the effort.
Hi Andrew,
Dialed 111 and pressed 2. The operators are not fluent in English. Even basic commands were not understood. Even AFTER asking to speak to the manager.
Yes I am South African but I am used to dealing with non-fluent English speakers. And I don't have a strong SA accent. Most people say I sound more British. My step mom is British.
Anyway, Vodafone call centre sucks period.
Hi Swine Flu,
Can you please send me a mail with your phone umber and when you tried to contact the call centre and I will check it out for you. To conect to the English line please call 111 and press 2.
Thanks
Andy

Hi corpsebride,
Do you still find the experience is the same?
Thanks
Andy
Do you have a strong south african 'english' accent? Maybe they couldn't understand you as most call centres are trained for american and uk 'english' accents. Call centres in India for example are trained to understand teh various dialects in the UK. I have heard they are even encouraged to watch UK soaps all as part of their training.
Who owns the majority stake in the vodafone franchise. I'l give you a clue, its not vodafone....
instead use it for calling abroad, still it is on a cheap rate till nov.14. your still a winner
If only I had a Riyal for every Vodafone bashing thread..
