By Afaque

Hi everyone! Need to know if there are people interested in or have exotic pets here in qatar like reptiles, ambhibians or any exotic animals or birds. I have some reptiles and ambhibians. Lets make a exotic pet group and share our experiences!

Have fun!

you can feed them chicks and hamsters if you don't like mice and rats. OR lizards too! I have some frogs, apart from regular food whatever creepy crawlies i find in my house I feed it to them...treat!!!

I dont think I could handle that! Thats the only thing that puts me off getting a snake.

Afaque

you could, but my wife won't let me put anything like that in it. You get frozen mice just like chicken in canada, america etc. but here getting live feed is much easier and less hassle than frozen ones.

Just thinking...if you ever decided to leave Qatar could you take these pets home without a licence here? I know friends who got turtles here and when they went back to Austraila they had to leave them with friends.

Well FM, its totally a personal thing, many people like them and many don't. I am able to manage quite well till now and I do have a friend who can take care of them if ever I go on a vacation.

Last year my snakes also laid some eggs but I didnot have an incubator so they were wasted. Waiting for the next batch as I have it now....

most of the snakes here are illegally brought from dubai or bahrain. I havn't found any snake with documents here! for export or import you need a licence for them which I think the goverment has a restriction.

By Afaque• 20 Oct 2009 12:35
Afaque

there is no particular shop for such animals but you can find something strange from time to time or by luck in any of the pet shops, thats why the prices are a bit high.

and Leiza, there are many different kinds and sizes of snakes. you could start with one that doesn't grow much. have to handle them regularly so they get use to it and then chances of biting is very less.

Scared of snakes thought,,, maybe they will eat u alive:P lolz... ANACONDA!

We were given: Two hands to hold. To legs to walk. Two eyes to see. Two ears to listen. But why only one heart? Because the other was given to someone else. For us to find.
