My friend was unfortunate enough to experience dizziness. Cant blame him. It was his first 3d movie. Also, the avatar was kinda crazy with the frames. Or maybe he was a bit of a softie.

Hey observer, With IMAX, the larger the better. The darling harbour imax is 8 storeys high. Simply world class. Villagio is nothing special.

watched avatar with my son in Imax villagio, it was really awesome. The only thing who spoiled it are the usual suspect keep talking on their mobile behind our seats.

@ xyned Christmas Carol was running during last month in Imax but now it available in 2d only in City Center..

U can now watch the new AVATR movie in IMAX 3D it's really stunning!

I want to ask u if u visited the Imax in villagio and does the size of the screen affects the experience because if its too big it can be painful for the eyes! especially for those who are sitting in the front lines! personally, I didn't find big difference between normal 3d cinema (available in City Center) and between vilagio Imax!(expet the size of the screen and the 10 extra riyals!)

Imax will work. Just that people need to understand the difference between a normal cinema and an imax. They are just as different as a motorbike is from an SUV. Granted, both are vehicles, but they are miles apart. Anyone who has browsed through the offerings of IMAX knows that there is not much they can choose from. A dismal choice of james cameroon's 3D documentaries, Attenborough's dreary voiced rendition of north pole etc. I have been to the worlds largest IMAX in sydney a dozen times. Never been dissapointed. Even a B-grade commercial is captivating on that screen.

Any idea if Jim Carrey's "Christmas Carol" is running. Anyone?????

I too got a chance to visit yesterday, Friday and seen the movie, my son and i enjoyed the 3D + big screen experience, although not the first time, we have already seen this at Indonesia and Malaysia, but surely best in Doha. We went to Cinema hoping it will start at 1045 hrs as per newspaper, but with other people we waited till 1215 hrs for cinema to open, then again waited till 1330 hrs for the show, since it is Friday 1045, 1130 shows were cancelled and only 1330 hrs onwards shows were open. It was not mentioned in News paper or anywhere so we wasted lot of time. Any way people want to plan on Friday keep the time in mind, if anybody has phone number to check the timing pls provide. I wait for english movie Avatar - 3D as shown in trailler next.

Regards

The ticket price is Qrs 55/-

Definetly, I will go back there again and wait for other 3D movies...

I went to the cinema yesterday with my family and I think it was bloody brill. It was quite funny to see my children reaching out to grab some things "coming out of the screen". Very good film but it was FREEZING so be sure to take a cardie or jumper. Oh and the tickets were QR 55 each, no discount for children.

I think CC knew that Villggio is gonna open thier IMax soon so they opened their 3D cinema too to keep the audiance but villaggio has the advantage of having enough parkings!

Am not sure if the screen in cc is Imax.

In vill. They have tickets for 35 and 45! 45 is for the upper seats!

Watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs at Villaggio on Saturday...

The screen is significantly smaller in comparison to the other Imax theaters I have been to. The theatre atmosphere is not as glamourous as I expected it to be either...it feels cheap in a way...I don't know...I'm a bit disappointed and it's totally not what I expected, but it was still fun!

Just FYI, there is only 1 IMAX screen, the rest are standard. My wife and I saw a regular movie. Werent overly impressed. Just seems like a low-average theater in terms of quality seating, furnishings, and general ambiance. One thing though, it was absolutely freezing in there!! I didnt turn my AC on in the car the whole trip home just trying to warm back up.

We did take a peek inside the IMAX screen after people had left the screening. I just have to say, I dont know what qualifies "IMAX", but I swear all of the IMAX screens I have ever seen (US / UK) have been atleast twice the size of that. It just doesnt seem all that big for an IMAX. Regardless, I am looking forward to Avatar in 3D come December on that screen.

We hit the bathroom adjacent to our own screen near the IMAX screen, and I really dont know what is going on. But the mens bathroom had 1 urinal (2 more plumbing with no urinal installed, and only 3 stalls with toilets. There was no trashcan and simply a trash bag laying on the floor. To say that was severely inadequate would be an understatement.

Just overall, I am not impressed at all with the Cinema. With all things Doha and going into the Villaggio, I was just expecting bigger and better. I think the both of us simply felt underwhelmed.

Cinema / Imax in Villagio? Is that for real, I've never heard about it, OMG...what am I? I was there yesterday afternoon and haven't noticed about it...

Well great! I hope Imax would be the same back there in the Philippines.. (Mall of Asia) huge huge cinema!!!

Got to go there to check it out

GREAT! Can't wait to go to the theater and have 92 mobile phones rining and subsequent conversations during the entire screening. FUN!

we just hope that it will not be vandalized as compared to Cinemas in City Center. Comfort rooms at City Center Cinemas are totally awful (am referring to men's toilet). Though a large NO SMOKING SIGN in there, still, irresponsible patrons smoke large volumes of cigarette making the Toilets smelly and dirty. Ewwwwww.

IMAX is not going to be successful in Qatar. Where ever IMAX has started operation they have closed down the theater after few show reals, as there is no enough IMAX content for preview.
