OK..

This is actually the title of a book by the feminist , Gail Collins.

The book is entitled - When Everything Changed: The Amazing Journey of American Women from 1960 to the Present

Saw it on the shelf and started to read.. It's interesting and talks about the progress of women in the last half century.

Gail Collins became the first female editorial page editor of The New York Times

So what do you think has been the biggest change for women ???

(Keep religion out of it please)

One change is that in the old days, there were ladies like Gloria Steinem who carried the torch of equality and fought for their rights .

Can we really name anyone now ??

MD, we might not be able to beat men in a pole vault but the fact that we can even compete is a huge step forward. A hundred years ago is was considered unseemly for a woman to compete in sports, now (in most parts of the world) it's commonplace and encouraged.

The change in perceptions is the most important change that women intellect equal to men

on the other hand, women fight to be equal to men and then start whining about how hard life is becoming these days with having both duties towards work and family.

I guess woman's rights need support of MEN, so again, it's MEN duty to give them their rights and nothing to be earned by deserving.

Yalla!

although the fight for women right began MAINLY in the second half of the 19th century, the nations envolved in the WW I AND II relied heavily on women working in factories and industry. and they did well. promoting women's role in society.

Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. 14% of people know that.

brit, rulers of female sex existed all the time; Hatschepsut, Cleopatra, The Queen of Sheba, Margaret Thatcher ..., that's nothing new and doesn't change anything. Because they behaved like men once they were in power.

Kuwaiti women have a passport now, that's a drastic change, I think! (But they still can't drive in KSA!)

It is hard to disagree with the weight of this statement from New York Times op-ed writer Gail Collins: “The conviction that women’s place was in the home, that they were weaker than men and weren’t really up to life in the public world . . . were beliefs that had existed for thousands of years, and they were shattered in my lifetime. That thought still knocks me out.”

In most countries, women used to stay at home, watch the kids grew up ... now, as i can see its the opposite, there is such thing as "wife husband or vice versa" the husband stays at home & wife is working ... see?
