Living costs includes a number of items like:

1. rental

2. Food

3. Entertainment

4. Shopping

5. vehicle

I find vehicle cheap and if you buy the appropriate one you can maintain it alright.

Now as for Food, it is going up since Ramadhan is over. The supremarket owners are going for a kill since they lowered the prices during the eid. I am not sure why a can of milo/milk powder which is produced in another Asian cty costs higher in doha than the supermarket price there. Same for many products. Some one is making filthy money.

Even plastic containers/sweepers are horrifically expensive here whereas qatar is oil and gas producing cty. It is cheaper in india or spore

As for rent, it is a cartel here. But if we really shop and refuse to pay rubbish monies for useless apts, then it will go down. There are some idiots (mostly some cty expats) who offer filty monies for stupid apts (conned by some lebanese/filipino agents), then of course you will feel expensive.

As for entertianment, spend a lot of time with family at the parks, aspire, play badmintoon not bedminton..you are oK then

That still doesn't explain why i'm payin' 6000 for a studio apartment! Rent's ridiculously high here and there doesn't seem to be any silver lining on it ever decreasing.
