hard drive issue
Hi, Does anyone here know how will I make use of my hard drive (C) wisely. I've been doin lots of downloads video from the internet and I think my C drive starts depleting. Aside buying external HD is there a way to make my partition wide enough, cause to buy one would just add up space surrounding my PC. I always bring my laptop with me so I dont want to bring accessories such as that, hassle..Please help me.
To keep your Documents in D: or E:
just copy your My Documents Folder to D:or E: then right click on My Documents(original folder - on desktop) and click on Properties and then change the target folder to the new location that is D: or E:\My Documents or ...
In this way all your documents will be saved in D: or E: Instead of saving on C:
Now just to make sure that it is done...save anything on My Documents and then goto D: or E:\My documents\ whatever you chose and check if the file is there. If it is there u r done.
u r welcome
yes, u can make changes after ur computer is setup..just download any partition manager....i am using a full version of Partition Magic. Trial versions are available on the internet for free but they wont work for you. you have to purchase or just download the full version from torrent (as i did) or from any other (crack) website for FREE.
A: and B: are ur FD drive(floppy drives)
C: D: E: F: . . . . are your hard disk drives + removable storage devices.
And yes you can use your E: drive to store movies+your downloads.
I do recommend you to use D: or E: to store your downloads...its much reliable....you dont have to cry if your windows corrupt's or crashes due to a technical fault or due to viruses
Ahmed thans but how do I do that. It says on my computer i have only 28GB remaining out of total 74GB thats in C drive. Now whats annoying me is I have 90GB free space to use in Data E. What is an E stands for? can I used this space to put my downloads rather than buying external HD? I mean I know there is a way just dont know how to do it.Please reply
Hard drive partitioning is done before system setup. you can no longer alter the size allocated on each partition once you had done system setup but you can always reformat any partition safely without causing damage to the other partition. If you are willing to reformat the entire hard drive you can always do so just make sure you have all the necessary installation software including drivers. Ideally allocate only 10GB for the system drive (C:). and all other applications to the other partitions. This would isolate your system drive from all other applications and will definitely run better. Occasionally run defrag on all partitions especially when you regularly download and install applications.
How much is ur HDD total capacity?
If 160GB - then make C:\=60gb and D:\=100gb and also Store ur downloads in D:\ in case ur computer\windows crashes u dont lose any data. Another thing is that storing alot of data in C:\ makes ur computer slow. ;)
If 250GB - then make C:\=80gb and D:\=170gb and also Store ur downloads in D:\ in case ur computer\windows crashes u dont lose any data. Another thing is that storing alot of data in C:\ makes ur computer slow. ;)
