England Brazil match... farce?

verisimilitude
By verisimilitude

Instead of hearing of players preparing for an important match, each passing day we hear of players dropping out of the team. I guess its just a coincidence that its the most popular players who are unavailable...

Attached are two reports ruling out Robinho and Captain of the England team John Terry...

We already heard of Beckham and Lampard dropping out... it sucks!

England would be left with just two players tomorrow from Capello's starting 11... its fair to call it an England B vs. Brazil match

Man City warn Brazil not to play Robinho in friendly
Summary Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has warned Brazil against playing his recovering forward Robinho in their friendly with England in Qatar on Saturday.

lets go to watch match ?

not the fans on QL -- lol

Actually, the fact that it is in Qatar is why I think there is little interest in the match among the players. It's not like playing closer to home where they would feel they have die-hard fans.

"Both sides were fielding some decent players. I also think that it is unethical to sell a game in which an insinuation is made that 'football stars' will be playing when in reality that is never the intention of either side."

Now try getting that it to the thick heads of sandee and his sidekick navdak... true Laurel and Hardy material...

They think a side that fields Terry , Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Cole, Owen, Crouch are not a serious English side...

BTW sandee and navdak... since you seem to be such eager enthusiasts of football... you are invited to join my footy group... we play twice a week and we've been playing... oh for the last four years regularly... it'll be fun watching you get your foot in your mouth again, but literally this time...

Here are the players used by the two sides in 2007:

England: Robinson, Carragher, King, Terry (Brown 72), Shorey, Beckham (Jenas 77), Gerrard, Lampard (Carrick 88), Cole (Downing 62), Smith (Dyer 62), Owen (Crouch 83).

Subs Not Used: Carson, Bridge, Neville, Bentley, Green, Defoe.

Goals: Terry 68.

Brazil: Helton, Daniel (Maicon 65), Naldo, Juan, Gilberto, Ronaldinho, Mineiro (Edmilson 63), Gilberto Silva, Kaka (Alves 71), Robinho (Diego 74), Vagner Love.

Subs Not Used: Doni, Alex Silva, Alex, Marcelo, Josue, Elano, Jo.

Goals: Diego 90.

=======================

Both sides were fielding some decent players. I also think that it is unethical to sell a game in which an insinuation is made that 'football stars' will be playing when in reality that is never the intention of either side.

However this is to be expected when money is central to the whole project!

Oh man stop it, I can't laugh any more.....

navdak don't you know vagner love is the best striker in Brazil :))

By navdak• 14 Nov 2009 02:41
navdak

Well whatever.. Alan smith and Nickey shorey got a start, Carra played on right back, Bentley in his best form sat on the bench through out and someone called that the best England squad????

I can't stop laughing.. Good thing you didn't touch on Brazil else I would have gone hysterical...

navdak it's just ego.

Verisimilitude why can't you accept when you are wrong?

Some psychological issues?

Well QL is my life, you got any problem with that?

Anyways England's Euro 2008 campaign is another long story but I won't waste that on a person who doesn't know anything about the game..

Enjoy your life.. Good night..

Unlike you... I have a real life...

I was just enjoying my quiet moment at your premise that any side that does not feature the players you named are not a serious 11... I guess England were not serious when they were trying to qualify for Euro 2008... cos not many of those guys figured in the starting XI back then...

Any way... like I said... I have better things to do... you are free to do what you do to try and get a life...

Gone so soon???

Ahhhh maybe searching wikipedia for football friendlies over the years ;)

You need to have your own opinion you know, wikipedia won't help you out forever.

Calling me names won't change the fact that you know little about Football, you can keep trying though. Maybe after you abuse me a 1000 times, you will get enlightened.

Why do you get so emotional verisimilitude..

Ok let me examine the 2007 side..

No Rooney, No Ferdinand, No James, No Gary neville, No Hargreaves, No Ashley Cole, No Heskey.. You really want me to go on?

By verisimilitude• 14 Nov 2009 01:36
verisimilitude

if you wanna 'pretend' you knew that England may just have 2 of its top 11 players in their friendly in Brazil... go ahead... hindsight is 20/20... thump your chest and we'll pretend not to be bored

But anyone can look at the team that played the 2007 friendly in Wembley can see THAT English side was much better than the one that takes the ground tomorrow... they had some semblance of the starting 11 back then and that is definitely not the case tomorrow...

Anyway I've got better things to do than torment myself by witnessing a bag of wind... what a braggart!!

By anonymous• 14 Nov 2009 01:20

Even shorey got a start for England in that game and you call it full strength, oh man you really make me laugh..

Thanks for the compliment but you still don't understand how the world of Football works.

what's up for discussion is not my aptitude for football... I can understand your urge to turn it personal when your underlying premise so far is build on a foundation of you know what...

The last friendly between Brazil and England in Wembley were both full strength sides... which is sharp contrast to the match to be played in Khalifa Stadium

Stop trolling... you obviously have little value to offer on this thread or most threads for that matter...

By anonymous• 14 Nov 2009 01:15

That game was held on 1st June, off season for clubs ....

They were still not at full strength is another issue..

You don't really follow football verisimilitude, do you?

If you did, you won't be asking such a stupid question.

By verisimilitude• 14 Nov 2009 01:11
verisimilitude

you just proved you are a bucket load

The answer to your question is at Wembley in 2007 when the same two sides played a friendly against each other...

type less... think more...

By anonymous• 14 Nov 2009 01:07
anonymous

Actually you don't be a dumba**, when was the last time you saw two full strength sides playing a meaningless friendly????

By verisimilitude• 14 Nov 2009 01:06

Yeah... I guess Capello was calling you over the phone to tell you he was not getting the full team...

Don't be a smart ass...

Don't tell me that you honestly thought that the full strength sides from the two nations will come and play a friendly here....
