Shilpa Shetty ties the knot!

By svelte_saggi

And finally one more of my favorite actresses has taken the plunge and decided to settle down to holy matrimony.Bollywood bombshell beauty Shilpa Shetty tied the knot amidst much fanfare with long-time beau London-based tycoon Raj Kundra.

"Itna thak gaya hun dance kar ke ki lag raha hai jaise kisi ne mujhe maara hai pakad ke" — these were Raj Kundra’s first words to a friend the morning after he brought home his bride, Mrs Shilpa Raj Kundra.

The wedding that was solemnised on Sunday evening at Bawa Villa in Khandala was a fairytale moment — the décor was done up completely in red, with velvet, satin, roses and candles decking the venue, and the mandap was designed like a south Indian temple.

Brit - Ya true.. for any kinda marriage to function smoothly..... work has to be done...

But I think... (of course it is based on the marriages/information I have seen around me....)

Couples tend to WORK more in a Arranged marriage ... more than in Love..

Or may be more than these factors.. the independence of females... social and financial, is prime reason for rise in number of divorces in present generation.....

I am not against this.. if their suppression is the foundation of a relation to last for ages... then it makes no sense...

But even the tolerance level of couples has gone down.

May be my opinion is biased....

As I have seen my parents and relatives of their generation and their frens - living a good married life.. which was Arranged.

And my frens.. mostly getting into Love marriages.. and things not working out the way it did for parents n their generation .....

But I have seen Arrange marriages which were total Disasters and Love marriages which live as if they were MADE FOR EACH OTHER.....

But we are talking about majority of the cases in each type... not the exceptional ones ....

And who says Arranged marriage is Marrying a Stranger ?

It is a person chosen by your family and you.... as she shall be the part of it... and you shall be part of her family..

they(families) should have equal say in the relationship

Exactly Brit.. Just being love marriage or arranged marriage doesn't automatically ensure a happy married life. Both need work to succeed..

Then again I can only comment on the basis of my observation, not on the basis of any experience..

Go by your own experiences. How many people do you know from arranged marriages who are in a happy relationship. How many of the same for love marriages.

I believe that neither is better. Both need work to succeed.

:( Till date I idealistically presumed Arranged marriages are better....

Small things here n there grows the love between the two...

Ego doesn play much part in the relation...

and I presumed opposites attract...

But experience of Saggi... makes me thinks... m I correct in thinking so ????

snessy...love marriages are still relatively rare in our community and even in this day and age, quite a few eyebrows are raised in such cases.and most arranged marriages work.but the youngsters of today ask themselves if a need for adjustment/compromise is really all that necessary when u have so many more choices.

someonenew...we had an engagement period of 8 months!nothing beyond enquiries about the weather and about each other's families happened :-/

brit...u talking of common interests?well,i've been trying to figure that out for the past year and a half!now since you asked, lemme just brief you about it a bit...i am an avid reader of english novels and all he reads is F1 magazine;i listen to soft melodious songs with lyrics that pull at the heart-strings and he listens to Metallica,Prodigy,Limp Bizkit and the like x-(;i don't touch seafood of any kind and he can literally live ONLY on seafood for the rest of his life;he has time only to talk about Kimi Raikonen and Schumi(which is what he calls the guy...as if they were childhood friends or something...grrrr) and to me everything sounds greek and latin!when we went on our honeymoon,he wanted to go trekking to the top of the hill...and i'm like "hello, this is supposed to be a honeymoon...not a mountaineering expedition!" x-( ok,i've switched off 'Rant Mode' :-D back to normal now!

Four months is nothing.. You probably don't even know where all his "bumps" are yet .

Why not look at the positive side. You are both starting from a clean slate. Think of the fun in "discovering" each other. Finding out the likes of each other and how you compliment each other.

Ha ha, at least you can blame your parents if it goes wrong!

On a more serious note, like I said, you have to work at a marriage to make it work. Having an arranged marriage is probably more difficult because you're learning to fall in love with each other, but if you want to make it a happy marriage, you can. I know quite a few people who have long, happy & successful arranged marriages.

maybe i should have advocated and had a love marriage afterall.in a pure arranged marriage scenario(as was the case with me),we both hardly knew each other...let alone be in love!duh!even after being officially married for over four months,we're still trying to come in terms with the very idea of having each other in our lives :-/

Svelte, if a man truly loves you, he won't care about how you look, you should make the effort for yourself, nobody else. If you like the way you look, you'll feel more confident, giving off positive vibes to hubby and everyone else.

Speaking from my own experience, I find marriage is about compromise, before I met hubby I was selfish and very blinkered in what I wanted, when Mr Snessy came along, I "wanted" to share in everything and willing to compromise with him. I believe you have to work at a marriage to make it work, but only of you want to :-)

Personally I feel if the relationship is based on physical attracton then probablity of it working out is much lesser when u compare it to a meanigful real relationship. Most real people dont have bodies like that and although many men would fantasize about a perfectly shaped woman a lot of men would just want to have a woman who would stick around, somone who they can have a have a decent conversion with, trust understanding basically peace of mind when u get back home from a hard day's work.

that when a female is Tooooooo Beautiful.... or Toooooo saixy/hot......

She should not be allowed to get married..

Ya I know.. it is against democratic/basic human rights...

But still...

Do they have any idea how much pain... each of her Ashique goes through.. when you hear your heart throb (of many) is married to someone else...

And you cannot think about her any more..

metrocity...not everyone marries for the sake of marriage and submitting themself to their "saviour" and such kinda crap.there are many people who get married in style and in a grand way just to have the feel of being a royal prince/princess for a day.i know i told my folks that i don't want to just get married....i wanted a wedding...a real fairytale wedding.and they gave it me too :-)

marie_2...there are some ladies out there who believe in strict diet-control right from day one.now that's dangerous.u make it clear to the bull that if he dares to try out chicken or egg u'll beat the living daylights out of him,and that's all that is needed to get him curious to know what a chicken or egg tastes like....so the best way is never to mention chickens or eggs to him.if he decides to try it out on his own, make ur point then.if he disobeys, then it's time for the whip.whack! :-D

All of this Temporary adjustmant only , Shilpa being an actress, to enter bollywood must sleep with someone first, so what is this wedding and all for her.

hahaha, im really rolling out of my grave now

a bull on a diet indeed! well, im not a nutritionist nor a dietician but i agree with you, its too early for you to be on diet. cattles on their last breath do that

but cattles are strictly limited to grasses. no chickens or beef or eggs. purely vegetarian

wow svelte that's a little unfair for ............ mmmm the cattle;)

yeah, women after separation or divorce will then seek for plastic surgeries and health clubs and beauty saloons and try to live their lifes to the max, or at least to attract another prey:)!!!!!! i wonder, had they done this prior to separation, could their husbands have preferred them?

Yalla!

thinking of them that way sure helps!like i told brit,we r 2 early in our relationship to think of the cattle running away.as of now,the bull will be happy with whatever he gets to eat....hay,grass,chicken feed or even movie posters ROFL ;-) :-P

:-P come to think of it,it is true, isn't it?if you tether the cattle with strong ropes to stop them from running away, they'll sulk like anything and finally at their wits end, they start mooing the entire neighborhood down :-D and you give them what they want, they automatically give back what you want ;-) he he!

i wouldn't entirely blame him for doing so.many women have a tendency to take a laid-back attitude when it comes to looks and general attractiveness post-marriage...taking for granted that "now i'm married, what's the use of dolling myself up?"....that is oh-so-wrong!they just fail to realise that at the very end of it,their partner is a MAN.and men are very much like cattle...if all you give them is dried hay day in and day out, they will stray out in seach of fresh grass in the neighbor's compound.it's a natural instinct.can't blame them.so if you want to keep the cattle in your own compound, take the pains to give them the fresh grass they want ;-)

this is my philosophy \m/

she was all fretting and fuming in the beginning calling shilpa a home-breaker and stuff....until she and raj opted for an out-of-court settlement to anull the marriage.raj said that he'll agree for an out-of-court settlement only if she gives in writing that 'shilpa is in no way responsible for the divorce'....which she did :-/
