Mums - what car are you driving?

Tru_Poppy
By Tru_Poppy

I'd like is a smallish 4x4 with good safety features, easy to drive and easy to park. I test drove a few cars and I still can't decide. It's doing my head in. Any recommendations please?

... I am a lady, size matters! ;)

Oh sorry, talking about vehicles now....

Price - quality relation.... how much does the X6 cost? And how much does the X-Terra cost?

There is my answer... a reliable, good family car at an excellent price :)

X-Terra!!! ;)

Are you saying that "Size does matter" and that X-terra is even more preferable ?

... if there is an accident between a 4x4 and your wifes' small Peugeot (I drove one in Abu Dhabi and LOVED it yes, but not for here, no way is it safe)... I hope never anything happens to her, but the small cars suffer against the big ones and protection whilst driving, in this country, only depends on the size of the car you ARE driving.

Unfortunately your wife's, myself and your driving confidence and skill have no bearing on this.

There are many out there with no skill, decency, education......driving huge cars. They mistake the normal roads for Grand Prix circuits.

's in this traffic. My wife does the school run in a Peugot 206. And she's driven it to/from the industrial area for it's services. I would say it all depend on your wife's driving skills and confidence.

... just trying to outnumber sirdolly and the X6 posts ;)

Let's see how many times we get stuck with our X-Terra on the QL Inland Sea Camping Trip due to my packing skills (yes, kitchen sink required!!!)... I think our 4x4 will be on 2 back wheels all the way there! ;)

Pathfinder. I find it very comfortable, especially for the school runs. With the traffic the way it is now, you will need a safe and big enough car so that the so called "Schumachers" in Qatar do not push you off the road.

Tru Poppy, never had a days trouble with my Vitara - but do get the 5 door. I have the 3 door, and for me its not practical, and I don't even have kids to worry about...

The Pajero is good and safe for kids, as it have this huge airbag in case the car is flopped, and practical for kids its wide from inside, have a DVD for cartoons, price is reasonable.

also the land cruiser is so good, so fast, and have also a DVD, the resale is amazing, as if you are saving money, a bit expensive.

there's the trail blazer its chevorlet, also wide from inside, practical and have amazing safety options for kids, price very very reasonable.

from the cars I prefere personally, the Dodge-Durango, and the Pilot-Honda, Acadia-GMC the denali, and the cadillac 4x4-Esclade
