Malling in Qatar...Open up Qatar malls

Rey Aurelio
By Rey Aurelio

Anyone who had experienced the discrimination in the malls here in Qatar? Non-sense family day? Been to Vilaggio and City Center with my brother, and the security guards are very dumb.. I could not believe that happened, we have explained that we are brothers but they need a woman?

Can you consider a man and a woman without any relationship a Family? or brothers with the same parents?

Crazy- is the word to describe the Family Days in those malls who are having family days.. I have seen that many Filipinos are waiting in front of the gates, trying to enter. waiting for Filipinas just to ask for favor to go with her-so the guard can't question.I have noticed also that Filipinos buy things whenever they enter a mall. They are I think considered a BIG Spender..

Discrimination? - European/Arab man can go directly without question- What is with them? the color?

Open up Qatar.. Malls are secured, people cant do any crime inside the malls. Common people--- spends money for the mall.-Profit.. Open up! Open your eyes.. Open your heart..

Why is this happening? Be Humane.

Nope. Don't want to go to a place where I am not welcome anyway but I am sure you can help a lot of them changing the entrance everytime.

It's totally unfair on these guys, like honeybunch states, they have to work all week in horrendous conditions and the only day they get to do their own thing and they're completely restricted. As a woman, it's not ideal having men gawping at you, but if you look at it from the other side of the fence, it's the only light hearted relief they get. I never see security guards at the entrances in the car park at CC only at the main entrance, which is even more disheartening because these men have had to walk or get public transport and then they are being turned away :-(

honeybunch....as what you stated in your last paragraph...may be that could be one of the reasons behind family day when the locals can have these ladies to stare at just for themselves...lol ________________________________________

bachelors who leave their families all the way back home here to work. One day they get off. To cut their loneliness & have a little good time away from work they try to visit places & every wer the tag of family is fixed...then why dont the govt create places for bachelors & not let in families there...

i dont really blame the security guards as they do what they are asked to do. Most of the guards belong to Nepal....If some one is showing their dirty fingers to them i think the guard is better literate than.

I wonder y they allow stupid ladies walk in with deep necks, showing clevage, mini skirts, tight clothes etc...atleast the bachelors are dressed....now this is discrimination

Darude...thanks..

navdak... seems how physically close the bachelors can be in the malls may be the concern for them, but in any case its pure simple stupid.

The rule is pretty stupid anyway. Why do they think these "Bachelors" can harrass their women in Malls only. The whole of Qatar should be made Family only and all the bachelors should be put in prison or thrown into the sea during weekends. Infact why don't just stop giving out bachelor visas. I know now I will get the standard reply, If you don't like, leave Qatar. Haven't met anybody responding well to criticism so far.

Ok mallrat I didn't know he is running the Mall. I thought the policy maker of the mall won't stand outside at the entrance whole day but hey guess what I was wrong. So typical of human race, when they can't do anything about it, they just let out their frustrations on someone who isn't in a position to retaliate.

i hate this damn idea every time a day turned into a Friday. or just like the recent holiday.

i tried my luck several times in entering City Center, and last week was eid holiday. the indian security hold me and say of course, today is family day. in just a seconds, a group of indian guys arrived and straightly go inside the mall without any question. followed them are group of arab nationilities who doesn't have family. next is one white guy and i don't know wat kind of nationality he is... that's the time confronted him. you know what he respond to me: "arabic nationality, no problem." damn it! i said. that made me go to other entrance and fortunate that i enter. i went to grocery, i shop a lot and came back to this guard which i love to slam on his face all the things i bought inside... this is terrible, horrible and it was truly a very disappointing life in Doha. so don't hope you'll get the 2022 olympic games... never! bwahahaha!

I thought initially every mall is one big night club here, that's why no stag entry for boys allowed.

All around the world....Only here in Qatar you can found like this rules.....

Only having woman are they called as family...

All Brothers are not allowed w/o woman.

Even you show your RP as evedence that you are both brothers but still they are not bothered...because you are not family....

LOL.....what is this stupid Rules...like this little think they can have.....

yes a lone woman can get in.. i've had no problems going to the mall on a friday or a saturday by myself..

dima, because a guard gets timid in front of these other nationalities, he's scared that they will give him grief if he dares to stop them..:P

By Khawaga• 3 Dec 2009 09:27

Can a lone woman go to the malls on "family days" or do you have to be a part of a couple? Basically, I guess what I'm asking is if "family day" at the mall here is like the "family room" in restaurants in Yemen where a woman can go either alone or part of a group.

By dima_123• 3 Dec 2009 09:26

i wonder y they let some nationalities get in even if their bachelors..

a never-ending issue... last saturday, i went to city center with my mom, my daughter, and my cousin.. as usual, the front entrance was filled with bachelors who can't get in, a guy approached us and even before he opened his mouth, we already knew what he would ask, that is, if he could walk with us just so he could get in.. so i let him hold my daughter's hand and we just walked straight in...
