I am looking for advice please on where to study Arabic? I would like to learn to speak and write. Do you know of any good course or advice on where the best place would be to go? I am hoping there are courses offered in the morning?
Many thanks! All help and suggestions appreciated.
With ur explanation, you have made me rather nervous! I was told Arabic is difficult, but I intend staying in Qatar and would like to address the locals in their own language.
Beside I am a mom at home and need to keep my brain busy.
Thanks Zabi. I'll be sure to drive there tomorrow!

You can get help from your Arabic friends at work to know how to pronounce the words
From my experience, learning Arabic is not easy and if you want to learn (read + write) you need 2 years at least to do that, so most people prefer to study the spoken course and learn the most famous words in Arabic, and you get that from our book.
Hey, lil, most university courses divide the study of Arabic into spoken and written. It's very difficult to learn both simultaneously and you won't progress very fast if that's what you try to do. The written language, foosha, is very different from spoken, dialectical Arabic. First you decide which medium you wish to study and then, if you wish to speak Arabic, decide which dialect. Fanar teaches written Modern Standard and after five levels and many months you will have a vocabulary of about 300 words, not enough to converse. I suggest spoken Eastern or Gulf Arabic and an intensive course for several weeks to start.
schlaunik, your link doesnt work and I cant log in??
Thanks Panda for the reference, but I dont want to learn Islam, just Arabic. The course mentioned in the QL thread involves learning 30 mins of Arabic and 30 mins of Islam. Any where else one can go? I dont mind paying.
