Sorry sir, sidewalks are for decoration
Just decided I'd share in case anyone actually wanted to walk to the Pearl. My fiance and I wanted to walk from the Zig Zag to the Pearl. We figured this would be easy enough as they're beautiful sidewalks all the way there. However we were stopped at the bridge to the pearl by security and informed that the sidewalks are just for decoration and we weren't allowed to walk on them.... :S
thats why i dont like the idea of the pearl
its private property
ultimatly they will allow vistors (shoppers) in otherwise they will not survive.

ok, deal. but let us postpone it till the end of the week. Today I am still not hungry, and don't expect to get hungry in a next couple of days..:)
I have switched to "Two-Meals" schedule: One meal on Saturdays and second meal on Thursdays, with the light snack on Tuesdays, which consists of the power bar and a glass of carrot juice, and therefore is not worth to have in the Gulf club.. so Thursday (or Friday) would be Ok..

Pearl - a land where nobody walks....
we were going to have a lunch at Golf club on Friday, but at the last minute we have switched it to La Veranda in Intercon.
Actually i like to have a lunch at Gulf club.. peaceful place, nice view, at least you can see some greens around.. :)
As for using sidewalks for the decoration, this is really another ridiculous qatari concept

The same thing happened to myself and a friend last week. We were stopped at the check point but given a lift to the shops. On the way back we were stopped again and they needed to get security to give us a lift out as we told them we were without a car. I'm sure someone somewhere gave this some thought and this is the best they could do. Oops! Well done say I!!!
Qatar wants the Olympics and the football...without walkways? Come on guys, lets think about this???

We walked back and then walked to the Golf course instead. The Golf course didn't seem to have issues with us walking in. :P

The security guard wasn't probably used to the fact that people sometimes walk when they feel like,he was so used to driving around all the time!

LOL gadarene, Honestly I think that's how it happened. We were walking and the security card who stopped us kept pointing to the Qatari sitting on the side of the road in an SUV and saying the "memsab (I think that's the term) says you can't walk"
They never cease to surprise eh olive?!...yeah as much as the mercury levels are perfect for a good walk these days,zigzag to pearl is "fancy car" territory,"walking"???..."gasp,oh God dear,would you look @ those two? they're actually walking,you think they're lost? maybe their Beemer broke down? we should inform security,can't have people WALKING around here,it's bad for our image."...
