Parents want break in exam schedule?

You have WEEKS off of regular classes to take your exams, but you think you need a BREAK in between exam days so you can perform your best? You don't want them to be under pressure?
In the real academic world, you have tests and quizzes back to back, people, sometimes (gasp!) even more than one exam on the same day!
Deal with it.

DOHA: A section of parents and students of secondary schools are worried over the first semester examination schedules being announced by the Evaluation Institute under the Supreme Education Council (SEC).

The exams, scheduled to begin from January 22, 2010, do not have a gap in between other than the weekends. The parents say the tight schedules would affect the performance of the students.

They want SEC to reschedule the exams giving at least a gap in the middle of the week enabling the students to prove their best in the exam. The continuous examinations will put immense pressure on the students that would prevent them from delivering their best in the examinations, the parents argued, reported Al Sharq.

Meanwhile, the principals of all secondary, preparatory and primary Independent, semi-Independent, and private Arabic Schools, Religious institutions, business and evening school have received the Evaluation Institute’s exam schedule.

First semester timetable for all streams of schools from Grades 1 through 12 in day schools, (general and private), home school students, evening students, semi-Independent students with slight difference in timing and the length of the session.

The main examinations will be conducted throughout this month until the beginning of February 2010.

The exams will begin on January 12, 2010 with Arabic language, which includes spelling and Quran recitation in all the Independent, semi-Independent, private Arabic schools, religion institutions (secondary and preparatory), and business(secondary).

you cannot apply that in the future reality (working). what will they do when they grow up not having to withstand "pressure"? its better to learn how to handle it while they're young and still have it easy.

I am with the children . I hate when children are . ..

under too much pressure which only cripples them and does not improves them ...My dream is a tolerant educational system where anyone who feels ready can take the exam at any time ...Some are ready earlier some are ready later ... We are all different ...Some needs more time between exams than the others ...

did anyone see the gulf-times article from this week where Qataris were counselled to decrease their dependence on maids? I wish I was computer savvy enough to link that here on QL. Would LOVE to see those comments!

i've been listening to the whining parents and students on the radio every morning since 10 days now, it's so pathetic, too much freedom of speach makes large asses and big bellies.

one high school student called and said" the ministry put math exam on sunday because it's hard and thus we have 2 days to study well, i want the history and geography exams to be put on sunday because to me math is easy", then the host supported him and said that the ministry should do something about this, "whatever is hard for someone might be easy for someone else and

vice versa"

Pathetic spoiled fat bellies

Yalla!

I am with the parents and would appeal to them to not stop themselves with their demand of one break in the middle of the week but they should demand one exam in one week... :)

i assume that the parents have more pressure than their children. it is the parents to parents competition towards their children academic development.....

In high school and Uni we had exams everyday...I don't understand why they're whining.

if you're bound to make it, then you're gonna make it, no matter how long a break they give.. back in my college days, we used to have major exams for a whole week, but no big deal.. maybe some just can't handle the "pressure" :P
