Reduce Use of Paper

Hello,
This is with concern to use of Paper in Qatar. Offices in Qatar consume a large amount of paper. I think we have to have control on this. My suggestion is rather than using FAX if companies move using E-Mail we can reduce this excess consumption.

FAX, many times sent are not even checked, and most of the times we get unwanted FAX.

If we use E-Mail and if the document is required, the person can decide if he want to print.

Hence reduce the use of paper and Ink, reducing the cost to company.

we also have the same technology too but our old staff who have this bad habit of printing & filing each and every document leads to wastage of PAPERS.

.

I personally have guided them in this regard but they still print just for their satisfaction & old habit

Totally agree with "ginserajan" as i'm trying my very best to reduce unnecessary printing of paper in my bank but unfortunately Local Qataris and those who don't have computer knowledge are generally the responsible ones who just for no reason keep on printing papers

.

We are Muslims & our ISLAM thought us not to waste anything without reason but sadly we are not abiding this simple law in our daily lives

It has a lot to do with environmental concern. Why not let ask all QL ers to be part of this. I mean reduce the use of papers. Lets start an awareness campaign ( Env. concern highlighted) here in QL??

i use draft paper for letters that i submit to my boss for review.. once he approved the draft, only then will i print it on a new sheet or a letterhead. that way i get to use both sides of a paper before disposing it.. i dont know if they have recycling companies here, they should consider having one for used papers, old newspapers, etc.

i had suggested this once to my Superior , the reply was "idea is good and to be praticed but the documents that we use for priniting may be something confidential so i have to sort the papers before doing so". and our printer is network connected so many people use this. so some of data should not be passed to another section. then had to withdrew from this action as it was always a time consuming option for me.But still i prefer this way. Use Reduce Reuse Recycle. A paper should not be considered as waste. It should be reused or recycled. But do we have any paper recycling company in Qatar?

another way is to recycle paper.. if you print something by mistake, dont throw it away, you may use the other side of the paper, as draft paper..

Wassting tissues too make a big change, ppl are un necessarily wasting tissue papers too, if tey need 2 they will take 10 atleast and wasting 8 always. a common practice here.

Qatar....no trees...nothing to worry. Trees are cut down for paper. if in a year we save at least 1000 paper a small tree can be saved.

yes ERP is expensive. But at least we can switch from FAX to E-Mail. I have seen 25 pages FAX of no use.

It can only be done through a specialized software...as each person has to make a remark on the document before its forwarded to other for further action.

But if this could be implemented the companies could save a lot of money on Paper, Toner charges & Electricity...and would need only one shelf for the backups and files.

Implementation of ERP is expensive though.Normal companies cannot bear that.

Ya EDMS is the good option. I worked with BOSCH (Finance), where we use to scan the documents, rather than keeping on hard files. The invoices and other documents are processed with ERP and no hard copies used.

Implementing EDMS in all the companies would make a good change.
