IMPORTANT - All owners of microchipped pets
If you have a microchipped pet, PLEASE make sure you have registered your details with the relevant company! Your chip is USELESS unless you regularly update your contact information.
When you get a new phone number or move house, contact the microchip company as well as your friends.
We currently have 2 dogs that have been found WITH microchips that have not been registered. We know these dogs have owners but we are unable to contact them. Please contact QAWS immediately if you know of anyone who has lost:
Female German Shepherd - Chipped in the Netherlands
Female Yorkshire Terrier - Chipped with an e-mark chip
Owners will be required to provide the micro-chip numbers as proof of ownership.
It takes 2 minutes to fill out a contact form and it's free to update your information so please take the time to check your registered details.
... this was just what I needed to know. I appreciate your time in posting the explanations, they are very useful and help us a lot.
When your cats were chipped you should have been given a contact form to complete which is then sent to the microchip database which is linked to that specific brand of chip. You would have then received a certificate through the post which confirmed your pets were registered and given you their ID numbers for the database. This initial contact information update is included in the microchipping service of the vet.
My apologies - updates are free of charge if you opt for the premium services of the databases which allows you to update your information online, receive a tag for your pets collar with the database phone number and many more services, all for a one off fee of around QR100. The tag is really important as it will have the manufacturer of the chip written on it which will save a lot of time in tracking you down if the pet is lost as the finder will go directly to the database you are registered with.1q
Please contact your vet if you haven't had a confirmation letter yet to find out which chip was used and where it was registered.
For more information please call QAWS on 5396074 as it can be quite complicated to explain how it all works!!

My cats were all microchipped at the Veterinary Surgery. What is the next procedure? Did they have to do anything after the microchipping?
Thanks for the info.
