For those who have tried visiting Dubai, I would like to ask if you gave 5000 dirhams security deposit your hotel?
My family booked thru flydubai and we don't have visa yet.
We called the hotel in Dubai and asked them for the hotel visa and they also required 5000 dirhams deposit. Is this true??
I never thought visiting Dubai has this requirement.

I stayed at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi and had to pay the same, even though I paid in advance for my rooms. So I really paid double when I checked in. I was surprised and embarrased at the front desk when I arrived, thank god I had the money, because I flew in from Qatar and would have had to look for a cheaper hotel. At least you were told in advance. I guess this is now true for most hotels. I think they want to cover the mini bar etc, just incase.
