just having a thought...as there is only doha, once you have seen most of it, was just wondering if people get a little bored??

do you think there will be any other cities in the future? or will doha just keep getting bigger?

sometimes i just cant cant get my head around it! im so used to being in other countries where theres more than 1!!

Well, I don't have any problem with Doha. Only people who are never content will get bored in this place, people who have money to spend and people whose feet keeps on wandering.

Actually, QS is right. Those are "cities" although not within known definition but think each one has (or is supposed to have) a particular administrative, or historical status based on local law / custom.

QS those are all just places to see... you cannot call it a town or city... they dont have any basic infrastructure to call it a town...

wakrah, Al khore, Dukhan, Mesaieed are few to name...

james_w, The modern day Qatar is only what 40 odd years old? Where as the other gulf countries started their Infrastructure soon after gaining independence from the British rule, Qatar has only really started its upgrading of Infrastructure in the last 5 years?

So it will take a long time. So like they say Qatar is atleast about 25 to 30 years behind Dubai and Abu Dhabi in terms of Infrastructure. Thats is if they keeping on investing in the Infrastructure.

yes uk, but dont you think they lack real town features?

design, architecture, shops, pedestrian areas, parks, council buildings....

its just all the same colour, looks a little run down and nothing really makes you want to stop to vist?

Coming from the back of beyond were I used to live. I'm just glad to be in a city , not having to drive for a couple of hours to do the weekly shop etc.

I have no idea what the development programme for Qatar is, I'm just happy to be a part of what Doha is at presant:)Still in exporer mode ATM too lol

There is more than 1 city. Madinat = City. Just that they are small places and not as developed as Doha (which to many, is not that developed yet anyway). But I love it this way.

And to answer your question - no, I don't get bored. There's always new things to learn. It's a matter of a person's outlook. If people are attracted only by the glitz and glamour / entertainment, then they will keep looking for new glitzy stuff / places. Some people are content with what they have and can keep themselves duly entertained. Lol! Some people will say they're as boring as Doha then but doubt they care what other people think.
