How do i feed this bird?
By pearl of qatar •
I found a nestling, no more than 10 days old, likely about a week old. The
eyes are closed and he has very few feathers. He is healthy while his
brother died from the tumble out of the nest. I cannot find the nest. He is
willing to eat, but I do not know what to feed him. The web sites are not
clear what to give this bird, other than to not feed bread and/or milk. Has
anybody had positive experience with raising a bird this tiny? This little guy has a lot of life in him.
You can go to Souq Wakif where there is a place to sell birds, animals and food for them.
MAY LORD BLESS YOU.
Thank you for rescuing the bird! At QAWS we often have baby birds brought into us for hand-rearing and I have to be straight - the bird has about a 10% chance of surviving.
The best thing to feed them is a good quality dog biscuit which you should soak in warm water until it's all mushy and easy for the bird to swallow.
The easiest way to feed them is to get a drinking straw and cut a big notch out of one end so it kind of resembles a spoon.
You'll know it's had enough food when the neck looks swollen. Please be advised though that they need feeding every half hour or so!
If it doesn't survive then please don't be disheartened - it's not anything you did wrong - just that it was too young.
