Hi All,

We are new to Doha. We were wanting to buy a Stove and were not sure which one to choose. ELECTRIC or GAS.

Can someone advise the Pros and Cons of these?

Thanks very much for you help n advance!

I wld advice u to go for GAS..I have seen people coping up with the flame adjustment with electric one..so won't recommend u the ELECTRIC..

Gas might be cheaper and considered more efficient than electric, but I have a lot of difficulty with ours. Even the lowest of the settings on the smallest of the 4 burners is VERY fierce and it is simply not possible to simmer. Perhaps it is just not a good cooktop.

Apart from having to get the leaky regulator fixed, the other problem I experienced here was getting the gas cylinder refills. Several suppliers I tried either didn't answer their phone, didn't speak English or didn't deliver (our building and street doesn't even have any name so I couldn't tell them what my delivery address was anyway!) Eventually I spotted a passing gas truck who was delivering to a neighbour and got the driver's phone number that way. We were several weeks without any gas at all (hooray for microwaves!) so for me having a gas cooktop has been a pain in the butt.

Go for gas, much cheaper compared to elect. like less than 15QR and you can use it in 2 months.

Well in terms of practicality gas & electricity are cheaper in here...its more of convenience on your part..

For me I'd rather use gas since I can cook food the way I wanted it to be...say for example the controls for low fire cooking(slow cook) I have experienced of burning food with my elec stove...Had hard time adjusting the heat, Well I'm just speaking base on my experience. For now I just keep my elec stove, I just used it incase I ran out of gas.
