Palm Tree Island - is it still there?
Hi - I recently heard about Palm Tree Island and did a search on the net. My friends and I are keen to visit - sepecially as it's only 5 - 10 mins boat ride from the corniche.
But then I stumbled upon a rumour on QL that it was being demolished.
I wonder if anyone can confirm? Is it still there?
If so - where exactly on the corniche is the boat, or can we hire any dhow?
Also - is it mostly for younger children or would it be worthwhile for a group of mid-late 20 aged people?
Thanks in advance.
hi , you can visit the palm island , but you cant be offloaded in the palm island. (prohibited)
you can hire a dhow which is along at the corniche side for 20 or 30 Min. Ride. which will take you around the island. (but cant be offloaded as i said)
regarding hiring a boat or a dhow, call Capt abdul 974-5111684
unless you want to hire the dhow or a boat from Qatar Advantures, gulf advantures, QIT
regards,
Nope, the island is just for name sake now. A barren place with no facilities. It was demolished a while back. It used to be a fun place, wonder why they did it.
the island is still there, but everything that used to be in it (restaurants, pool, playground, beach facilities) are all demolished few months before the Asian Games 2006.
