Moving to Doha
Been offered position in Doha, was looking for any helpful information on moving, I'm married with 2 kids 11 and 14 accomadation is covered, monthly salary is 16000 Rials monthly is cost of living good for that salary? school is covered upto 50000 Rials annually is this also good for 2 kids to attend good school thanks for all help recieved
The American School, Compass, Park House and Doha Montessori (not a Montessori school, despite the name), Sherborne and Int'l School of London are likely to be your top choices.
A UK passport is pretty much required for DESS, and I am assuming that it is for Doha College as well - but you'll want to verify this first. DESS is less expensive than many of the expat schools, but I don't know if Doha College follows suit or not.
Finding slots in school is not easy, and is likely to require some diligence on your part. I would bite the bullet on the phone bill rather than just relying on email.
Thank-you all for giving me input, this is all new to me and the job offer i have is only days old, trying to research all expenses that might come up, a 3-bedroom apartment with all utilites is included also a car allowance included, really concerned about the schooling as i would be coming to Doha without kids at first and would want to make sure that they are in a good respected school so they can adjust to Doha
American School could be good for you but again 50K will be for one child only. They are doing registration now. You can try to make an appointment on the internet now if you know the date you'll come in Doha.
Yeah, 50K/annum would hardly cover the fees of only one child.
utilities included with 3-bedroom apartment, on average how much are tuition fees, moving from Canada so trying to figure it all out so it's worth the move
how much does one pay for utilities?
School fees not enough for both of your children. Other than that, you probably won't save anything on that salary especially if you have to pay for utilities.
which schools are the most common ones for expats, and if you know how long it takes to register, i've been looking at some already on-line they seemed ok but waiting lists thanks for help

50,000 is enough for one child to attend, but it probably won't cover them both - at least not for the most popular expat schools.
Accommodation is covered, schooling is covered so it's good.
But depends who you ask, someone who makes 50 K per month will say it's a rubbish offer, someone who makes 8 K per month will say it's a great offer.
