Vitamin D Deficiency?
I have a friend who told me that 3 girls she knew did a test to check their vitamin D and all three had a deficiency.. one of the ladies said that it is a reason of why people have chronic fatigue.
I went today to have my blood test done, and Thursday results are in. I have been having a lot of fatigue, sore muscles, too. I wonder if I have a deficiency because I really do not expose myself to the sun..
I advice everyone to have a test to check on it, because we live in a place that we dont see much the sun! If you can do it, go and do so!
Good luck!
Low Vitamin D levels normally cause depression, fatigue, body pain and many other problems we would never think about. Many people like Nour need Vitamin D supplements to compensate. I would recommend anybody to spend some time in the sun - despite the heat - with an adequate suncream to avoid burning your skin. I always notice a huge difference in my mood when I spend half an hour outside in the sun (drinking plenty of water to compensate the loss of bodyfluids due to sweat). One thing we are never short of in Qatar - and that is sunshine :)
Hi,
Joined this forum due to this interesting topic. Just got back from my doctor today with my vit. D test result...omg...very low, the reading is only 9 compared to the recommended range of 30/70. Given prescription of 50,000IU of vit D pill for 6 weeks. No wonder I have been having this unexplained pain all over my body....need to do some sunbathing from now on.
suzan, a lot of people do go out when it is hot. They go to the pool, the beach etc. They naturally get plenty of Vit D through the sun.
Update on this in today's Gulf Times at http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=425199&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
Interesting to note that women who wear the niqab or hijab are two-to-three times more likely to suffer from vitamin D deficiency than those who wear western clothes.
Maybe there's a need to provide a few ladies' only sunspots :-)
Where else would I live?
My job is indoors, computer facing all day.
Get home and stay at home most of the time taking care of my son. I usually hang out at night.. who would go out when its HOT?
suzan, you said we live in a place where we do not see much sun. Do you live in Qatar?
lemontree, I'm not opposing you...but I'm showing my concern...
ghazalz....i said "also"
I don't think it’s the matter of the sun exposure only, because I use to see sun rise in the morning daily, but I too diagnosed with a very low vitamin D…
I suspect, it must be something else too behind it…
sun exposure also helps to produce serotenin...which keeps the mood happy...a natural anti depression
Went to Al Ahli and they withdrew blood on Saturday and said results are in Thursday.
