shreyas you are lucky that you are living in a football mad country full of passion for the game bidding for the world cup, in other countries you will have to stand in a longer queue..... errrrrr not really, in any other country, you will get it free in your home :)

Welcome to the greatest football fans in the world, fully deserving of hosting the world cup 2022, QATAR :)

Its strange isn't it? I was hoping there would be more excitement about the WC since Qatar is also bidding for the 2022 edition.

I read an article in the newspaper that talked about dwindling football jersey sales.

Also, when I went to buy the Al-Jazeera sports card from a shop in Villaggio, I was disappointed to see that there was just one salesman who had to tackle a huge crowd of people waiting to buy a card. I was hoping there would be more shops selling these cards, and if there ARE more shops, there is no way to find out where these are (other than the help from fellow QL members).

After standing in the queue, and finally buying this card, guess what? It doesn't work :(

Massive FAIL

any good idea about where to watch th world cup games ?

wow thats awesome WK....I'm from New Zealand and we are huge Rugby fans, not really football, but in my city in Wellington they had a couple of fan zones set up down at the water front, huge screens, bars food and the atmosphere was fantastic....it really does blow me away here that qatar are bidding yet they are doing next to nothing to showcase this wonderful game....now if they can't get there act together to construct some amazing fan zones, what hope do they have in hosting a WC!

Raven during last world cup I was in a city called Kolkata in India, There were dozens of places with giant screens with some cinema halls showing the games as well. Not to mention all the bars with big screens. That was passion and it was in India where we are not supposed to be bothered about Football :)

By Raven1968• 8 Jun 2010 17:25
Raven1968

shreyas, hey thanks for that, but as WK said how big is it? I would have though a big area down by the Khalifa Stadium with brais and drinks (non-alcoholic) and big screens and seating all over the place, now that would be showing your passion for football...I really find it bizarre that a country with somuch wealth, and is bidding for the WC hasn't arranged anything decent for the public...

shreyas I went to watch the Champions League final once in Souq Wakif, how many people can get in that small place where they show it with projectors, 40, 50 well maybe 60 people. Cool. Perfect, let's all go there.

Hey Raven1968,

I saw some banners yesterday by the roadside, and they ARE organizing fan zones and a big screen experience. Its at Souq Waqif for the entire duration of the WC

By Raven1968• 6 Jun 2010 11:13
Raven1968

I would have hoped that Qatar with its bid for WC2022 would set some fan zones around town with big screens up, food and snacks...but alas Qatar misses the boat yet again!! And the media tell us how passionate Qatar is about football...YEAH RIGHT!!!
