I know my statement was a sweeping generalisation but ask the Qatari landlords who they would rather rent to, it's not Asians, it's not Arabs and it is certainly not qataris

Brit I know I can't do much at a personal level. I spent the last July and August at a site in the sun working with these labourers and I needed a cool drink after every hour while these guys worked continuously from 6 AM till 7 PM with only one hour break for lunch, I don't blame them if they don't have the strength to clean their place & their surroundings after working so long in the heat. I had no strength to move a muscle though I was taking breaks regularly. We should be thankful that these guys make our lives so comfortable (The last line courtesy khanan)

Everyone lives in their own little world. The reality is that we as individuals cannot do much. The companies who bring these labourers over want to make as much money out of them as possible, so they give them the mere basics. I recall in Saudi Arabia, a company took six shipping containers, stacked them two abreast, punched holes in the sides for AC units and put about a dozen people in each.. Can you imagine the heat in those metal containers during the summer :O(

The simple fact in all this is that the Embassies of these people don't do anything even though they have labour affairs personnel on board..

Eco yes one can but I was just wondering whether the westerners have seen how the low salaried people in Qatar live

By anonymous• 22 Jun 2010 01:13

ES you have met only westerners here, don't tell me you have been inside labour accommodations or have visited too many Asian families to see how they live ;o)

ES...thats a sweeping statement, westerners v/s other nationalities, not always true.

The only people I see taking care of their places are the westerners, other nationalities rent a place and then trash it.... what a way to live.

Fardan Tower now that tower doesnt belong to my father.

We are care takers of this earth and every one is responsible

Doesn't look like a labour camp and the people living there probably chucked all that rubbish in the water. Some of these people get treated badly and some of them live like animals.

be stinking still there is life in it, I will grow water plants in it.

humans should throw their garbage in bins, humans should learn to keep surroundings clean.
