Does working out in the heat help you lose more weight than working out in an air-conditioned room?

.....Citrus tree, yes, I'm a 77 years old granny, thon, I have no teesh...:P

But seriously, heat stress can cause you to pass out and worse can cause death, in some cases.

it has to be moderate temperature...so the heat is not drawn way too slow or way too fast, because both are bad...sweating is good but extreme sweating causes dehydration within no time

PS: Happy Happy, you are undisputed " QL granny"

...Be wary of heat fatigue, it's fatal.

exercising in the hot makes your body lose water. So yes you might weigh less at the end of the exercise than being in a cold room. Good for when you need a sudden drop of weight if you have a tournament in some sport and you want to make your weigh in. But you gain back all the water loss in a day or 2 and you are more prone to cramps and muscle fatigue when you're body is dehydrated not to forget your higher heart rate.

You do not lose your LIFE exercising in the hot. unless if you are 300 lbs and you never even exercise usually. As long as you monitor a heart rate below 170 and drink plenty of water you are ok exercising anywhere you want.

Ah sorry my bad, well if you are going to exercise in a room that's not well cooled, it might get very stuffy for one. But sweating more obviously will help you lose more weight.

Wait a minute... Do humans go into heat as well? I thought it was only animals?

By smoke• 22 Jun 2010 12:48

I wouldn't recommend it. Perhaps if you just stood outside like a statue that would be exercise itself.

Have you heard anything about " Heat stroke"? Sweating does not mean more weight loss, its just loss of body fluids.

You may lose weight, but you'll screw up your health in the end...

Its better to exercise in a moderately airconditioned room, rather than goin all out at the Corniche from 12 noon till 2!!

The Human body doesn't react well to any overdose...similairly, OD on heat may lead to problems...

By anonymous• 22 Jun 2010 12:44

yeah, you can also lose your life outside in the heat exercising. What a stupid question for a "teacher."

No exercising while in heat will not help you. You should wait for that period to pass and always use protection if you cant resist the urge.

u will loose more water from ur stinky body by sweating in this heat and u will get dehydrated and DIE...

better avoid doing much exercise in this humid climate.
