We dont need huge quantities of leaves or organic matter for vermicompost at home(balconey)...Anything in our house other than plastc and glass can be added to the vermicompost . That includes vegetable peels, egg shells, pieces of fish and meat, bones, leaves, newspaper or any books, old food, leftovers, anything....organic...You will need two buckets with lids.. The temperature generated during the chemical process reaches around 70 degrees ...So worms cannot be added in the beginning stage...
If there is enough number of us who are interested in doing this, why dont we help each other to start it? Our small way of making Doha and our Mother Earth a little more greener? :-)
I was thinking of bringing them from India :-)I will keep a track on you to find out whether you manage to get any replies..Nurseries, farms and the Municipality are the three possible places I can think of...
I guess you are watching all the TV programmes and reading up on the suject.. A plastic bucket or two and a few worms are all we need to have a compost supply made from our own home waste..
