Doha Clinic - Doctor Gynecology

Mohammad EL-Naggar
By Mohammad EL-Naggar

I have went today with my wife to Doha Clinic Hospital. My wife had a Physiotherapy treatment. Since we have visited the Dr.MXXX for a Gynecology last week.Hence we decided to visit her for the follow up appointment. We took a number from the reception. I took my wife out of the hospital and when we returned we found out that we have passed our turn in the qumatic by two number. When we spoke to the nurse she advised us that we will be meeting the doctot after a while. So we have waited & waited.... after 1:30hr of waiting while my wife is feeling a big pain at her back specially after she finished her phsiotherapy course an while ago. I tried again to speak to the nurse at least to tell us when we will be able to meet with the doctor. She confirmed that she is not able to tell us since that is way of Dr.MXXX to her patients as a PUNISHMENT for not being on time. I was not able to believe what the nurse told me. So i have called Dr.MXXX Herself trying to figure out the time of meeting her. She clarified that the nurse is the only one who is doing that arrangments and when i asked her at least to take a new number from the reception that will clearly tell us when we will meet her. Imagine she told me that is not allowed. The nurse felt sorry for me clarifing that she is only doing what Dr.MXXX instructed her to do.

I took my wife and we went home since her back made her suffering from the sitting waiting for at least 2:30hrs waiting.

Could you imagine guys if you missed up a flight you will be able to resceduale it. But at Dr.MXXX`s visit you need to be there Sharp on time or you will be Punished by the Dr.HYYYYY to be kept waiting for a unknown time till she decides to see you.

You know in our first visit to see Dr.MXXX she kept over 50 patients waiting for more than 4 hours. And we were one of those people who bared that.

What is that kind of treating pregnant women that can turn any normal person to a nurvous one by that kind of words ( PUNISHMENT ) when you hear it from people you excpect them to help and assist your family members as angels.

Did anyone here faced the same ..... Please share it with me at least wanna know if that was a personal situation or that was the normal. ...and if so to whom shall i speak to at the Hospital that can solve that problem that dosn`t belong to health it belongs to the health of sociality and controlling.

Thanks & best regards

I just went there this week and was told that the doctor in question does not take appointments and works at her own leisure. I chose to see the male gynecologist (first time ever for me) and he was actually very friendly, polite and professional. Also, he was available right away, no waiting.

I would like to thank you all for your valuable comments and opinions. I agree with your opinion about DC staff being friendly snd the best place in Doha with high level of Doctors as i have visited more than 5 different doctors there during my last years in Doha. That was specially my main reason of sharing that incident with you here in QL as i was dissapointed of what i have faced.

Once again thanks for your valuable time spent and comments written.

Medical Ethics and Behavior Either your patients/clients missed or not you don't have the right to speak rude to the patients. The Roles and responsibilities of the Doctors and other medical related staffs are to serves according to their fields and not being a Jerk Law makers in Jury "Judge" and not to give a verdict in a court of justice by saying its a PUNISHMENT for being late. He/She doesn't have the right to say so. If yes then he/she must change profession.

Being late is normal especially if you are with pregnant woman who can't just jump and hook up in other stage, I may suggest try to get an appointment with other OB/GYN and Good Luck.

You wnat them to go and investigate every doctor or health care professional that speaks in a manner you consider rude and don't like? Talk about a pathetic Nanny State mentality....

You have to complain to Ministry of Health, against the Doctor behaiviour. Dr's behaiviour should be calm and quite. I know the Dr as well. She use to rough talk always to the patient. Not only for you. So please write a complain to Ministry of Health or Supreme Council of Health. Office near Fire station R/A.

and she should have allowed you to take a new numner and wait until your turn. I assume you would have learned your lesson and not left at that point. That said, if they refused to let you take a new number for a missed appointment then they are being punitive. However, I suspect that is because of ride people like UKeng who come and go as they please, lying about missing their appointments, and expecting to be slipped in in front of those who have been patiently waiting their turn.

I will kick up a HUGE fuss with the manager. People like you abuse the whole system for the queue here and would never do that back home. You must think your time is more important than everyone else's and I can assure you it is not.

I don't. Still you're entitled to your own opinion, as they say ( in other parts of the world ) :).

Here, it depends on who is the vendor and the customer.

Always doesn't apply

Cheers! I'm having green tea :)

All what you advised was suggested bymself.

I`v offered to take a new, fresh number to wait for my normal regular turn. That means after the whole patients arrived before me to be attended first then my wife!!!!which is fair enough to any normal person isn`t it???....However, that was against her rules dude.

yes infact I have done that and politely told the staff I missed my turn due to circumstances beyond my control like saying Nature called and I had to visit the loos. They most of the time buy that and let me see them..

ex.ex.expat.. The truth of the matter is that there is no proper patient care and customer care in this part of the world.

Where as in the west they say the customer is always right, here it is the opposite that the vendor is always right.

marie_2 what I mean is that the not only in DC but the region as a whole the patience care is out patient secondary in my opinion. Not sure you will agree with me or not.

UK, forgive my ignorance... what does apathy of the DC staff means ? :)

take a number, then go do your shopping all over the mall, pick up your kids from school, go wash you car and drop off the drycleaning, only to return to QTEL at your convenience and jump to the front of the cue?

When you take a number, you stay until it is your turn.

marie_2 or is it due the apathy of DC staff?

You don't take a number to wait in a queue and then go do something else while others wait their turns, and expect to waltz back in when it suits you and see the doctor after throwing their whole system out of line. You should have to take a new number and start all over at the END of the list. Hope you learned your lesson and now understand your time in no more valuable than everyone else's.

long time at the OB-GYN because they nmight be ub a delievry or emergency. You will want them to tend your wife when her time comes and not leave her to go make her office appointments, right?

For popular doctors such as herself, waiting is the norm.

The nurse could have sweetened that word, but there it goes... Patients knows when it's their turn, so letting your wife to be seen 1st would have created hell for her, missed out or not.

Aside from clinical works, she may have deliveries to attend, and hospital rounds to make. Taking another # would have placed you at the bottom.

Anyway, thanks for the info, i hate waiting for hours. I'll visit another dr. :)

Its Simple , if you wanna get treatment by Doctor MXXX who by the way is the best in town you should just bear it, or else be on time. We had a similar situation and my baby was delivered by her by the Gods grace so i know. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not allowing reschedualing is one of my concerns about that visit ???

2nd:That is the DR`s PUNISHMENT for being late(SAID the NURSE)...... The nurse was very clear saying the above

The OP has every right to name & shame to warn others of their experience.

Find another doctor - if I'd waited 4 hours the first time, I wouldn't have gone back again!!

Big EGO and naming it discipline....you missed an appointment, your fault but why not allow rescheduling? Find another doc for your wife.

P.S: Not a good idea to defame anyone in local website. Hence, requesting MODs to delete name of the doc from the post.
