The problem with non Qataris is that they think Qatar is all what shows in the main roads..
The real beauty of Qatar is hidden within its desert..
I'm Qatari and still get astonish when my dad who is an expert in Qatar desert.. takes us in weekends... especially when the weather is cooler.. to places I never saw before... but he drives into the desert.. for like an hour or so.. to get to these places..
the last time we went... he took us to a place where we were amazed at how beautiful it was...
It was a vast land of pure soft white sand...
I swear we thought it was snow... We started running barefoot with the kids who were jumping with excitement..
It was really amazing.. I regret that I didn't take my camera that time.. though I usually do...
So try to be more adventurous if you want to see the real beauty of Qatar...
there are so many wonderful places to discover.. but I believe it's quite difficult for non Qataris even for some Qataris who are not used to the desert to drive to these so far away and hidden places...
but to be honest now in not the best time.. and staying in a tent in this hot weather is really risky..
at this time, so many snakes, scorpions and different kind of desert creatures get out from their holes due to heat.. so it's a bit dangerous...
But when the weather cools down a bit.. It would be a great experience..
in November. Right now the weather is too hot to enjoy much of anything. Many of the safari companies offer an overnight package. It is very expensive, but an experience not to be missed. Sealine is not worth much of anything, in my opinion, and I have never been to the resort in Al Khor. check the threads on what to do in Qatar. You could spend a day checking out all the forts in the North. They are pretty cool. Also the abandoned movie set/fishing village.
How long have you been in Qatar? The only place I know of outside Doha where you can sleep in a hotel/motel bed is Sealine. Unless you consider Al Khor.

Somewhere in Qatar are no enroute guest houses. Bring your own tent. Otherwise: don't leave Doha.
