Hi Guys!
Just wanna ask if 3350 QR basic salary + 500 food allowance is ok for a 2 year experienced office engr.
I was offered by Midmac construction company.
Is their acommodation and utilities really for free? Thanks!

take it! Midmac will definitely give you a good training and experience in ME Construction! You are still young and a lot is in store for you!

is a junior engineer who is usually assigned in the office. In the case of the OP and the company, he will be assigned either on site office or head office whicever, he will do multi-tasking works of a young engineer, that is, including but not limited to simple estimates, simple planning and scheduling, assisting senior office engineers, running errands from the seniors, basically, a young engineer who will be trained on-hand about all facets of construction.

In either case, he may end-up as senior engineer in various position/department of a Construction Company or if he opted to do Supervision works later, he maybe assigned as Field Engineer!

Sounds remotely like when an Egyptian told me he was a "paint engineer" and I discovered it meant he mixed paint at the local hardware store.

saints, answering 'engineering queries' to clients is generally not done by someone who is just 2 years experienced...he would not even know what the clients are looking for..:)

for the age according to your QL profile, its reasonable.

Just to contribute, an Office Engineer is someone who is versed in every aspect of engineering (whatever field required) but will stay in the office to answer "engineering" queries clients might have when they call the office. Also, part of their duty is encoding, follow-up things, study plans, etc. A simple job.

he/she is going to answer. The first person asked the very same question and not yet answered.

I am an Engineer, but never heard something called "Office Engineer" during my studies or in my career.

it probably means he wont be required to go to the site..

two years of experience is good enough to do odd jobs like photocopy, forwarding emails, taking calls and maintaining files..

I couldn't guess what's that as well. Waiting to be enlightened.

It seems low to me. That would be close to $1200 per month in US money. Take a careful look at it because you will likely be working 6 days a week and near 70 hours per week. Break that down and the hourly rate is not that good sincy you are salary.

If the accomodation and utilities were not free you would be unable to survive in Qatar - And can i also ask what an office engineer is?
