Most of them have escaped to save their lives. Flood waters washed out entire villages and turned the towns into lakes. Nearly one in 8 Pakistanis have been affected in some capacity by the floods. One-fifth of the country is underwater and 900,000 homes have been damaged. Up to 3.5 million children are at high risk of deadly water-borne diseases, such as watery diarrhea and dysentery.
