Now that the schools

Now that the schools are reopening every parent must be busy preparing school bags, uniform and all.I am glad about sending my kid too but my biggest problem is the TIFFIN.She is in KG1 and doesnt eat at all. Please share with me any special menu for kids if you can.I have tried fruits, sandwiches, eggs, biscuits but nothing seems to work.If I force her she vomits.I am in a great dilemma as her aversion to Tiffin may lead to gastric and acidity.Even before going to school she doesnt eat much.Any recommendation from mothers would be helpful.Oh one thing she likes is french fries.

jack: Goa was lovely, but the trip was too short. As for your other theory, do you really want to discuss it on such a public forum?

Sorry for the hijack.

I agree with FathimaH (or her granny, anyway) that hungry kids will eat anything. My mom used to tell us that we had a choice for dinner (or lunch) and that choice was to take it or leave it.

My daughter is the pickiest of picky eaters and regards all new foods with much suspicion such that she won't even taste it unless bribed and/or threatened! I try not to let it bother me too much and just concentrate on building meals around the wholesome stuff she does like. And yes the truth is if they are hungry kids will eat anything even grass..that's what my granny used to say!

i have the same problem with my son when he attended school. he's 4 and he's a picky eater never eats veggies and like fries...a lot!!! my advice is not to worry maybe she needs more time than the others her age...the teachers told me that if they're hungry they'll eat...be patient and try to introduce new food one at a time ...my son just recently started on carrots and that made me so happy...we see to it that we leave something somewhere and if he sees it he'll eat them...be patient...when she's in school she'll soon join the rest eating when she sees them...be patient... i hope i did help...

So far there have been very few, if any really healthy meals or lunch box(I assume that is what a tiffin is) food items posted.

Pancakes and the like are NOT healthy, filling maybe , but certainly not healthy. There should not be any cooked foods in the box, as I have yet to meet the child that likes to eat that kind of food cold.

Now, if the child does not want to eat, do not force her. Once she is hungry, she WILL eat. Also, seeing the other children sit down and eat might make her, after a while, want to join in. If not, take her/him to a doctor, she/he may have some underlying issues.

As to lunch box food. It depends on how old the child is and how long she/he is in school.

For young children, who should have a short day, a bit of fruit and Yoghurt should be enough.

For older children a sandwich ( whole grain bread) with lettuce, cheese and some cold cut, fruit, yoghurt( best would be natural joghurt sweetened with honey and some fruit pieces) and a cereal bar( be careful though, many of those are loaded with sugar) should be enough.

Now, I do not know Indian food, but I am sure there are many healthy and tasty options available. There must be suggestions and recepies on the internet.

I seem to remember reading a very upsetting bunch of posts between you and another user on this topic and am surprised to see you recommending such products so publicly.

Personally, I would never feed biscuits and gravy to anyone that I wanted to continue living (clogs the arteries!), but I don't have children and probably shouldn't advise.

Saeedkan: did you really just include a recipe (gravy) that includes pork products?

try out home made nuggets or cheese balls. Children usually like these kinda food. instead of bread sandwiches you can make her french toast or pan cakes. Muffins are also popular among kids.

haha...I'd like to know how disciplining equals sexual molestation? By no means am I saying Sean's post was right...but it sure did not suggest anything sexual related happen to the child... Where is your head Ibelinaah?

Sean C I think you had a horrible childhood that makes you behave like a sadist and Paedophile.I think you are a danger to our kids and may molest them.I rather report you to the authorities for suggesting child batter in public forum.I will keep my eyes open from now on coz you may be lurking trying to molest innocent children.Guess what if the CID of Qatar caught you,you would rue the day you were born!!!MANIAC!

I am not taking your comments lightly...you have to be put behind the bars or deported. You are a sure case of child molestor.

I use to fill each morning for school a small plastic box with cherry tomato,or sticks of carrot or sticks of celeri + another box with 2 slices of banana bread one week, I change the second week with slices of white bread with peanut butter or nutella, few grappes, few walnuts, they get bored with the same food all the time, if they dont eat that as a snack at school than display them on the kitchen table and hide all the sweets and jonk food, when they play they always come to the kitchen and pick up. You will be happy to know that she will have few peaces of each veg. good luck.

my son doesnt eat any bread at all,so sandwiches arent an option. You have to remember though that schools DONT allow any junk food or nuts.I send off my kid with yoghurt, cut fruit, some crackers or pretzels, juice, milk and water. He nibbles some of what i send but he doesnt starve and has his lunch as soon as he gets home.
