Questions for Recent Driving Test Takers (Who already have US license)
Salaam/peace, all -
I just moved to Qatar with my husband, have been driving in the US for 15+ years, and am aware that I have to go through the drivers test again here. Just have a few questions (I researched previous questions, which all have good tips on how to set mirrors/signal/etc.).
For those of you have recently taken the Driving test, how is it? Did you have to:
1) Parallel park (front-end or back-end)?
2) Use round-abouts?
3) Go up/down hills?
4) Drive in a special area or out on the actual road?
5) Take a driving course? My husband just set up a driving test appointment for me for next week, and it seems, without any driving course. I'm not worried, just want to know if it's mandatory.
Just want to be prepared (I've actually already experienced driving here, and it's not bad). Thank you all in advance!

I had heard that as of 2009, all Americans (even with US Licenses) had to take the test for a Qatari license. I wish it was still automatic transference, but that's why I wanted to know from those who have taken the test since 2009. I had also heard that if you know someone, you can get it automatically transferred, which sounds strange...but I would believe it if it were true.
Thanks for the help, all.
I thinnk if you holder of US Driving Licence then no need test .............make sure...plzzzzz
With American license, you don't have to take a driving test (if you are familiar with driving in Qatar).
You can ask to see the Traffic Dept. Director & he will sign & waive it for you.
Thanks, all.
Fact/Myth: has the test has gotten easier/shorter recently?
Thought I had heard that...

My wife went through the same deal, you will be tested for the up hill and then back up without hitting some set up cones, if you pass that one, you will go on the road and it should be very simple. My wife had to take the test twice because she failed the first part, the hill thing, she said it is tricky and you need to know the technique to pass.
